to Allan.

The flowers at the front of the

Grasby in loving memory of Jane’s
brother, Gibson Armstrong who
passed away on Feb. 9.
The call to worship, the prayer of
approach and the prayer of
confession were read in unison. The
senior choir sang Christians Come,
Gather at the Table.
The children went to the front pew
for children’s time. Rev. John
Roberts asked them how many
brothers and sisters they had, then
how many friends. The difference he
said, is that people don’t choose their
family, but do choose their friends.
Jesus calls everyone his friend, he
said.
The scripture readings were
Jeremiah 1: 1-3, and 30: 18-22, 1
Corinthians 13: 4-7 and verse 13,
John 15: 12-17.
The sermon reflected on the
scripture readings.

responsively and the gathering
prayer and the prayers of the people
was read in unison.

Beulah Land.
The children came to the front and
Mrs. Snyders asked them in what
ways they could show their love to
others. They said smile, hug, be
polite, kiss, be kind, help and share.
God wants everyone to love one
another just as he loves those. If
people do good things for others
they will get them in return. It is
important to let people know you
love them, she said. Children don’t
need a special day to love.
After prayer the children
adjourned to Sunday school.
The scripture lessons were
Matthew 22: 34-40 and I John 3: 11-
18.
Mrs. Snyders message was
entitled Be a Bold Lover. It was
based on the theme of the children’s
story and the scripture lessons.
Love the Lord with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your
mind, she said. This is the greatest
and the most important
commandment.
The second most important
commandment is Love
your neighbour as you love
yourself.
Don Procter and Doug Walker
took up the offering.
The closing hymn was Would You
Bless Our Homes and Families?

The Citizen
Morris-Turnberry will prepare a
bylaw to ensure accessibility at new
commercial buildings following a
presentation on the issue at the Feb.
19 council meeting.
Jennifer Cowan, co-ordinator of
accessibility for Huron County made
the presentation with Sandra Weber
of the Huron County planning
department and acting chief building
official Terry Kuipers also in
attendance.
Cowan told councillors that the
Planning Act requires decision
makers to have regard for the
accessibility of persons with
disabilities at all facilities. Site plan
control gives planning and building
staff an opportunity to enforce this
when a vacant lot is being developed
or the exterior of a building is being
changed.
It applies to everything from parking
lots to commercial, industrial and
institutional buildings and medium
and high density residential
developments.
Also included are recreational
developments and agricultural
commercial and industrial sites and
wind turbines.
Huron County’s “universal
design and accessibility guidelines”
set accessibility standards for
accessible routes and paths, ramps,
curb ramps, parking, passenger
loading zones, landscaping materials
and plantings and street furniture.
Cowan showed examples of curb
ramps which not only allow those in
wheel chairs to cross streets, but had
a change of materials in the ramp to
warn those using a white cane that a
corner is there so they won’t walk
into traffic. She also showed
handicapped parking areas which
had been installed at new
developments which allow space for
wheel chairs to access vans.
It is up to the chief building
official, she said, to enforce these
provisions as part of regular
inspections of the site.
Council will prepare a bylaw.
