The Citizen, 2008-02-14, Page 12PAGE 12. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2008. Flipping Pancakes were on the menu Shrove Tuesday in Blyth at Memorial Hall. With a steady crowd and runners frequently sent to the streets for more maple syrup, it’s safe to call the dinner a success. The Alcocks were enjoying theirs at St. John’s Anglican Church in Brussels. From left: Amy Alcock, nine, Grandma, Cora Alcock and Kim Alcock, 10. (Shawn Loughlin photo) By Rev. Dave Wood Huron Chapel Evangelical Missionary Church, Auburn It is hard to believe but every time I see that sign on my front lawn, reality hits home. A few months back we put our house on the market and now we find ourselves facing a move. Life progresses pretty fast and at the end of the month we will pack the truck and relocate to the Wingham area. Despite what people think, our move is not the result of Fran but just a realization that we need to downsize. We will miss very much the community of Blyth and the best neighbours that we could ever possibly have hoped for. It is a little scary to pack up and move on even though it is just down the road. There is always that sense of uncertainty as one ventures into unknown territory. I cannot imagine how Abraham must have felt when he left all that was familiar and heeded God’s call to go to a distant land. In Hebrews 11:8 it reads that “By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” Faith is what pleases God. Faith is the assurance that no matter what we go through there is underneath us the everlasting arms. In knowing Jesus, there is a confidence that comes by faith. An assurance that no matter what direction we take, no matter the path that our feet are called to walk upon, we are not alone and God is with us. Thank you for the many great memories that we have created in Blyth over the last nine years. I will continue to pastor at Auburn and the doors of the church are always open if you really start to miss me. Thanks for the great memories. God bless. 308 Blyth Rd.
