GORDON HARKESGordon Harkes of Clinton passedaway at Clinton Public Hospital onFriday, Feb. 1, 2008. He was in his82nd year. He was the beloved husband of the late Hilda Harkes who predeceased him in 2007. He was the loving father of Keith and Paula Calgary, Alberta, Bev and Alex Blair of Blyth and Robert and Marianne of Calgary, Alberta. He will be sadly missed by 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Harkes was the brother of Harold Harkes, Doris Perrin, Doreen Troyer and Sharon Digula. He was predeceased by one son Harold Harkes in 2001, one brother, Jack Harkes and one sister Betty England. Friends and family were received at the Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd. – Clinton Chapel, 153 High St. on Tuesday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. where the funeral service was held on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m.Pastor Les Cook officiated.A memorial service was held bythe Clinton Lions Club on Tuesdayevening. Cremation has taken place with interment of ashes to be at Clinton Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. TAMARA HERMESTON Tamara Lynn Hermeston passed away at her residence on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008. Born in London, Ontario on May 13, 1961, Tamara was 46 years of age. Raised in Lucan, Tamara moved out to Edmonton and studied science at a community college. Tamara will be sadly missed by her mother Joan Hay of Cariboo Trail Park, B.C., her aunt Lorna Freudeman of Guelph and her many friends.She was predeceased by herbrothers Jeff and Matthew.Tamara will be remembered forher love of animals. She always cared deeply for their well being and feelings. She was an accomplished athlete, having a successful and wonderful time on the University of British Columbia rowing team in the 1980s (something her brother Jeff got her involved with) as well as competing in marathons, winning the Forest City Marathon in London twice during the 1990s. Tamara was also an artist. Drawing animals was her favourite subject. A gathering of friends to celebrate Tamara’s life will be held at Theatre 3-11, 311 Main St. E., Listowel, on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. On-line condolences may be made at www.schimanskifamilyfuneralhome. com FLOYD HILTSFloyd Hilts of Walton passed awayon Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008. Born in Sebastapol on Aug. 7,1930, Floyd was in his 78th year. Left to mourn are his wife of 58 years, Pat, his children Sally and Ron Pitschner, Carol and Bill Reiner, Jennifer and Bob Kirkey, Betty MacDonald and Brian Schertzer, Patti and Dale Scheerer, Peter Hilts and Susan and Wayne Mitchler, his grandchildren Mechelle, Billy, Chris, Jason, Bradley, Josh, Amy, Nikki, Amanda and Kathy, his great-grandchildren and two sisters. Floyd was predeceased by his father, mother and brother. Friends were received by the family from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Friday from the Schimanski Family Funeral Home where a private funeral service was conducted Saturday, Feb. 2 with Pastor Patricia Jackson officiating.
