financial statement for 2007 was in
the annual meeting report.
Mrs. Hunking thanked everyone
for their assistance in preparing for
this dinner and for making 373 beef
pies on Wednesday. Turkey pieswould be made on Feb. 5-6. Ordersonce again can be placed withBarbara Anderson. The Huron-Perth Presbyterialannual meeting was announced forMonday, Jan. 28 for Seaforth at 9:30
a.m. March 7 will be World Day of

H-P Presbytery is suggesting each
member give $1 a month to a capital
building fund, which would be set up
for both Presbytery camps.
Muriel Coultes opened the
worship with a call to worship on
stewardship. This was followed by
prayer, a hymn, and the scripture
Mark 12: 41: 44.
In the meditation Mrs. Coultes
said that stewardship is what people
do after they say they believe. If all
members were to give just four orfive per cent of their income to thechurch and its mission there wouldnever need to be another financialcampaign. She concluded the meditation withreference to the Biblical story of the
widow’s mite, and read a poem,
Symbol of Hope, written by Betty
Turcott.
The offering was received and
dedicated and the worship closed
with a hymn and prayer.
Mrs. Coultes introduced Ken
Wood of Wingham, who showed
slides of a trip he had made with
another church group to Ukraine. He
explained why it is now called
Ukraine, not the Ukraine. Their
work was to enlarge a meeting room
and kitchen for the Odessa church,
on the Black Sea. Odessa has a
population of 47 million, but during
WWII they lost five to eight million
people. Odessa has the highest
percentage of Christians who have
been worshipping freely since 1988.
He also showed slides of his trip
home through Vienna, and overGreenland.Nancy Folkard thanked him for hispresentation and Elly Dowpronounced the benediction.

The Blyth PeeWee Dynamite
broomball team took on Palmerston
at the Blyth arena on Saturday.
The Dynamite started off strong
pushing Palmerston into their own
end. Kaitlin Bos got a pass over to
Scott Jefferson who scored the first
goal for the Dynamite.
Later in the game Palmerston
started to put pressure on the Blyth
net. Goalie Bryce Glousher did a
great job to keep Palmerston off the
score board.
The last play of the game netted a
goal for the Dynamite, when
Jefferson’s shot from the point was
deflected into the net by Brooke Bos
right at the buzzer. Blyth won 2-0.

on Sunday, Jan. 27.
Melissa Snyders welcomed the
congregation. Hymn-sing selections
were Count Your Blessings and All

Happy birthday was sung to
Catherine Coultes.
The Christ candle was lit by

After the reading of the Words of
Assurance the senior choir sang Put
Peace Into Each Other’s Hands
accompanied by Elizabeth Procter.
The children sat in the front pews
after the singing of This Little Light
of Mine.
Melissa showed them a box that
appeared to have nothing in it, but
when there was a light in it, they
could see butterflies, rainbows,
flowers, crosses and smiling faces.
God gave people a source of light
to share with everybody, she said.
People don’t want to walk in
darkness; they want to walk in God’s
light.
After a prayer, the children
adjourned to Sunday school
The scripture lesson was John 1: 1-
10 and 2: 1-6.
Melissa’s message was entitled
LIGHT: L - light, I - inspire, G -
guide, H - hope, T - truth.
“Does your life cast light or cast
shadows?” she said.
Ben Procter and Tyler Stevenson
collected the offering.
The closing hymn was Jesus Bids
Us Shine.
