The Blyth Kings broomball team
hosted a game against Palmerston
on Jan. 26.
Blyth scored in the first minute of
the game when Hunter Broda
passed the ball over to Greg
Roetcisoender to score a goal for his
team.
Five minutes later, Palmerston
scored to tie up the game. There
were scoring opportunities for both
teams, but the first period ended and
neither team could break the tie.
Blyth’s Tyler Hallahan made some
good saves as goalkeeper.
Palmerston was unable to score
on two powerplays. They did,
however, score on a breakaway with
just two and a half minutes left on
the clock. Blyth lost their
momentum and allowed their
opponents to score again before the
final horn sounded.
Palmerston won 3-1.
The coaches decided to practise
overtime since they still had 15
minutes of ice time left. The goalies
were pulled and four players from
each team were sent out on the ice
to see what they could do. This was
a great practice for the upcoming
provincial tournament in Barrie.
Palmerston scored a couple goals
during the overtime. Alex Sanders
scored for Blyth on a breakaway.
