FROM AUBURN
Lions members dine at Stickers
The Walkerburn Club met at the
home of Ilene McClinchey with five
members present.
Deanna Snell opened the meeting
with, All I Need To Know About
Life I Learned From My Dog. It
gave advice of everyday life lessons
with a touch of humour.
The second reading was Saying
Your Thank Yous.
Deanna led in prayer. The Lord’s
Prayer was repeated in unison.
Betty Archambault read the
minutes of the last meeting. Roll call
was answered by telling about
Christmas or New Year’s
celebrations.
The club has donated 10 quilts to
the breast cancer quilt sale. Over
2,000 has been donated to the
organization, a tidy sum from a
small group. The club decided to sell
the next quilt on its own or donate it
to another organization.
This quilt features little girls,
appliqued and embroidered.
Another quilt on the go is a puff
quilt. Vera Penfound will sew the
pieces together. This quilt will be
donated to a shelter. Dorothy
Schneider will find out where to
send it.
Word was received that the
Restview Retirement Home in
Clinton is closing. Gifts for the
residents will be discussed when
more information is forwarded as to
where the residents are going.
St. Patrick’s Day favours for the
patients in Clinton hospital were
discussed.
Betty Archambault is to look after
these.
Ideas for a new quilt top were
tossed about. This is from pieces of
quilting material that has been
donated.
A quilt is to be tied for a member.
The next meeting is at the home of
Dorothy Schneider on Feb. 11 at
1:30 p.m. Dorothy will look after
lunch and Vera will have the
program.
Deanna turned the meeting over to
Bernice Norman. She had everyone
exercising their memory with riddles
and brain teasers.
Lunch was served by Vera
Penfound, assisted by the hostess.
The next meeting members are
asked to bring needle, thimble and
scissors to learn how to do a
different type of quilt top.
