BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Jan. 20 was Myrtle
Badley. Ushering were Rob Mason
and Elaine Brown. Guest organist
was Lynda McGregor.
Guest speaker Sandy Morris
welcomed everyone to church. The
call to worship was repeated
responsively and the opening prayer
was repeated in unison.
The first hymn Joyful, Joyful We
Adore You was followed by
the repeating of a new creed and
choir anthem, Nothing is
Impossible.
The children’s hymn Para, Para,
Pitter Pat, was followed by a minute
for mission.
Sandy told the story of how the
animals cured the hiccups. She said a
simple way to cure hiccups is to
bend over and drink a glass of water
upside down.
The children went downstairs
for their time of worship and
fellowship.
The scripture readings were from
Isaiah 49: 1-7, 40 Psalm, read
responsively led by Ollie Craig, 1
Corinthians 1: 1-9 and John 1: 29-
42.
Sandy’s message to the adults was
the story of Paul talking to the
Corinthians about not to go back to
their old ways.
Everyone was invited to have
birthday cake with all the January
birthday celebrants.
