The Huron Holstein Club Awards are presented to the 4-H dairy club members with the first and second highest scores in the county who showed a Holstein calf as their project. The dairy club member with the first highest score in the county who exhibited a Holstein calf is Caroline McDowell of the Lucknow Dairy Club. She had a score of 898 points. The Huron Holstein Club Award is the sponsor for the 4-H dairy club member with the second highest score in the county who exhibited a Holstein calf. Ryan VanOsch, who had a score of 870 points, is the winner this year. The Scotia Bank Award goes to the novice dairy showperson at the Seaforth Fair. This year’s recipient was Emily VanOsch. The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Huron County branches, present an award for the 4-H dairy member with the highest score in the county. Kora Bennett was the winner with a score of 949 points out of a possible 1,000 points. Elliott Nixon Insurance Limited of Blyth donates a trophy to the champion dairy calf at the Seaforth Fair. This year’s winner is Brad VanOsch. The Auburn Co-op Award is donated by the Auburn Co-op to the 4-H member in Huron County who exhibits the reserve champion dairy calf at the Seaforth Fair. The winner this year was Kora Bennett. Bennett also won the Huron Bay Co-op Award, donated to the champion dairy showperson at the Seaforth Fair. D & D Glass of Vanastra donates a trophy to the reserve champion showperson at the Seaforth Fair. This year’s winner was Jeremy Kresky. The Graeme Craig Award is donated by Graeme Craig to the 4-H member with the highest score in the Huron County Plowman’s Club. David Grobbink is this year’s winner with 798.5 points out of a possible 1,000. The Royal Bank Award is donated by the Huron/Perth Agricultural Centre of the Royal Bank in Exeter to the first year member in the 4-H Sodbuster Club with the high- est score. This year’s winner was Laurie Grobbink. The Townsend Tire Award is presented to the youngest member active in the Sodbuster Club. The winner was Jacob McGavin. The Ross Gordon Memorial Award is donated by the Gordon Family to the 4-H Sodbuster member who had the best crown at the 4-H Junior Day at the Huron County Plowing Match. This year’s winner was Brandon McGavin. The Sodbuster Leader Awards are presented by the leaders of the Sodbusters Club. The first award is for the member with the top land plowed at the achievement program by a competitive plough. The award was won this year by Frazer Falconer. The second award is for the top land plowed at the achievement program by a non- competitive plow and was won by Mike Pavkeje. The Agvise Award is donated by Mike Hunter and Merv Erb to the Sodbuster member with the highest total points at the International Plowing Match. The winner this year was Brandon McGavin. The Jan Hayward Award is given to the 4-H goat club member with the highest score. With a score of 898 points out of a possible 1,000 the winner wa Leah Vingerhoeds. The Rona Cashway Award is presented to the goat club novice member who had the highest club score. The 2007 winner was Vikter Colletta. The Gallagher Power Fencing Award is donated by Evert VanSligtenhorst as an Award of Merit. Katie Brady received the award. The Paul Klopp Award is presented to the top goat showperson at the Seaforth Fair. The winner was Raina Vingerhoeds. The Goat Owners of Huron Award is presented to a goat club member who had the best goat at the Seaforth Fair. Vingerhoeds received the award. The Milton Dietz/Purina Award was given to the chinchilla club show champion Brendon Boven. The Georgian Bay Chinchilla Club Award was presented to the reserve show champion Amber Walton. The Harold Storey Memorial Award is given to the male club member of the Chinchilla Club with the best book. This award was won by Tyler Klassen. The Helen Storey Award is given to the female club member of the Chinchilla Club with the best book. This year’s winner was Claire Fleming. Other awards presented at the Chinchilla Achievement Day were for best groomed animals. These awards went to Brendon Boven, Mitchell Comeau and Jessie Walton. The Old Mill Award is donated by The Old Mill of Blyth to the sheep club member with the highest score. The winner with a score of 913 points out of a possible 1,000 was Elliott Miller. The Lucknow Co-op Award is given to the novice sheep club member with the highest score. The winner was Jesse Kinsmen. The Elora Road Meats Award is given to the champion market lamb at the Seaforth Fair. The winner was Elliott Miller. The Shillalah Farm Award is donated by Shillalah Farm and awarded to the champion ewe lamb at the Seaforth Fair. The winner was Frazer Falconer. The Carol Mitchell MPP award goes to the champion 4-H sheep show person at the Seaforth Fair. The winner was Kayla Bishop. The Doug Kennedy award goes to the reserve champion sheep showperson at the Seaforth Fair. Winning was Elliott Miller. The Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers donate an award to the 4-H sheep club member who had the champion fleece at the Seaforth fair, Kabrina Bishop. The North Sheep Club Leaders present an award for leaders’ choice to Kayla Bishop. The South Sheep Club Leaders present an award for outstand- ing effort. The recipient was Amber Brodie. The awards for project books went to: beginner, (10-11 years old) – first, Caroline McDowell; second Shannon Ryan; third, Sydney McIlhargey; junior (12-14 years old) – first, tie, Zachary Drost and Brent Drost; third, Jesse Kinsmen; intermediate (15-17 years old) – first, Kristina Drennan; second, Crystal Blake; third, Frazer Falconer; senior (18-21 years old) – first, Melissa Sparling; second, Kora Bennett; third, Nicole Moore. The Huron County Pork Producers’ Award goes to the member obtaining the highest score in the 4-H Swine club. Leanne Ryan with a score of 795.1 points received this award. The Bergsma Award, donated by Bruce and Marie Bergsma and family goes to the 4-H swine club member exhibiting the Champion 4- H gilt at the Seaforth Fair. Leanne Ryan was this year’s winner. The John Watson Award goes to the 4-H member with the champion 4-H market pig at the Seaforth Fair. The award went to Shannon Ryan. The Scotia Bank Award is presented to the champion 4-H swine showperson at the Seaforth Fair. The winner was Leanne Ryan. The Huron County Pork Producers’Award goes to the reserve champion showperson at the Seaforth Fair. Greg Murray received the award. The Stan Jackson Memorial Awards went to Huron County 4-H beef member with the highest total score in the county, Brad MacIntyre; prize money for 4-H championship beef show at Seaforth Fall Fair grand champion steer, Jessica Gilchrist; grand champion heifer, Brad MacIntyre; grand champion steer, first, Jessica Gilchrist; reservechampion steer, second, TravisMacPherson; third, Dan Shapton;fourth, Cole MacPherson; grandchampion heifer, first, BradMacIntyre; reserve champion heifer, second, Tyler MacPherson; third, Rob Marriott; fourth, Stu Simpson. Interglobe Financial Services Corporations Award goes to the champion senior showperson at the Seaforth Fair. The winner was Stu Simpson. The Brussels Agri Services Award goes to the champion beef showperson at the Seaforth Fair. Brad MacIntyre was the recipient of the award. The Huron County Beef Producers’ Award goes to the first- year beef club member with the highest score. The winner this year was Jillian Martin. The Maple Ridge Beef Farm Award goes to the Champion junior beef showperson at the Seaforth Fair. The winner this year was Brad MacIntyre. The W.J. (Bill) Sproul Memorial Award is donated by the Auburn Lions Club and presented to the group of three at the Seaforth Fair. The winners of the group of three this year are all from the Lucknow Beef Club. The award for top intermediate showperson is donated by Hometown Custom Builders. This year’s winner was Rob Marriott. In 2007, four 4-H members retired from their 4-H careers, Brad Gilchrist, Erica Murray, Rosie Grobbink and Andrew Toll. They were recognized for their contribution to Huron County 4-H. As part of the awards program initiated by 4-H Ontario, several leaders also received recognition, William Hendriks, Sue Marriott, Marita Oudshoorn, Sophie Jefferson and Margaret Vincent. Deborah Bennett, Mary Ellen Foran, Barry Gordon, Andrea Hern and June Robinson were also recognized for their contribution to 4-H in Huron County. Joan VanSligtenhorst has led the goat club for several years here in Huron County. She was recognized for 20 years of volunteer service. Ruth Ritchie created several projects for Huron County 4-H. This year she presented the Let’s Make Music and Snowmobile clubs. Receiving six club seals were: Joscelin Andrews, Kylie Hendriks, Jeanette Schramm, Sara Baker, Tyler Hendriks, Ali Snell, Billy Brady, Jeremy Kresky, Katie Sparling, Katie Brady, Darlene Lobb, Tabatha Taylor, Brandon Coleman, Dawn Norman, Connor VanOsch, Emma Dale, Christine O’Reilly, Ryan VanOsch, Will Fleming and Jolande Oudshoorn. Brad Gilchrist, Raina Vingerhoeds, Brad VanOsch and Cassandra Drennan received seals for 12 clubs while Meagan Higgins, Melissa Higgins, Maisy Jefferson, Greg Murray and Adam Thomson were given seals for completion of 18 clubs. The Gay Lea Award of Excellence is presented to the 4-H members who have completed 24 club projects. This year there were two recipients, Ellen Jefferson and Reba Jefferson. Two members received recognition for completing 30 clubs this year, Sophie Jefferson and Margaret Vincent. There were two members who completed 36 clubs in 2007, Kristina Drennan and Erica Murray. The following awards are open to any member of 4-H in Huron County.
