Major-McEwan says she wants to
keep it as an informal come-and-go
affair.
As far as other details on the clinic
go, Major-McEwan says that not
much more has come to pass. Since
the last time she spoke with The
Citizen, there have still been no
solid decisions on appointment
procedures or any further
information as to whether the clinic
will house a part-time physician in
addition to its nurse-practitioner, or
whether Verbern will just be
assigned a nurse as an assistant.
There’s something quite sweet
about delayed pleasure. With loads
of snow the weekend before
Christmas, a few families had to
delay their gatherings and find
alternate dates. Several were held
this weekend and I’m hoping they
were as much fun as December
parties.
Even the best laid plans for the
New Year’s Day Levee were put on
hold with only the skaters
celebrating the first day of 2008.Keep thinking about a good namefor a July party to celebrate ourhometown. The catchier the better.Who would have thought thatbanks of fog would arrive in Januaryand even cancel events. We’re just soused to snowstorms rearranging ourJanuary lives that the white stuff outthe window was mistaken for snow.
The reaction of cancelled school was
definitely mixed depending on the
age of the students. Everyone should
have very neat bedrooms after all the
holidays after Christmas break and
an extra day to boot.
Hello from Patricia Wilbee from
Bonnyville, Alberta. She and Phil
connected through Facebook
(internet) just before Christmas and
had a good evening of catchup.
Several of the kids that are calling
Alberta home at present have made
good use of this communication
tool.I’m truly grateful that brother Clifenjoys spontaneous company andrealizes the importance ofconnections when people are awayfrom home.As we welcome this new year withall its potential we also know therequirement of looking back on theold one. Annual meetings for several
organizations are set and that means
you have reports to submit. Take a
big breath and get at it.
This would be a good time to
remind you to wash your hands
often and for at least 15 seconds –
after you touch another body, have
been to the toilet, coughed or
sneezed into your hand and always
before you eat. Just so you don’t get
bored, find your favourite song and
time 15-20 seconds worth and sing
at the top of your lungs. That way
we’ll also know if you’ve washed
properly.
Like so many of life’s problems
it’s often a very simple thing that can
prevent the passage of “bugs”. So
stay home when you’re sick and
wash your hands more often that you
think you need to and we’ll all be
healthier and happier.
I guess I really must take the
Christmas tree down today. But it’s
so pretty.
Bye now, Betty G.W.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED
As part of the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of drinking water in Ontario,
the Provincial Government has recently enacted new legislation requiring manda-
tory testing for lead in municipal water systems.
The lead testing which must be performed involves sampling tap water from a
minimum of 20 private homes in each service area, including the Brucefield,
Brussels, Seaforth and Vanastra municipal water systems. Testing is to be performed
twice per year. The Municipality of Huron East is asking for volunteers who would
be willing to permit staff entry into their homes twice per year for lead testing. It is
anticipated that each testing will take approximately 45 minutes and use less than
50 litres of water.
All volunteers will be given ample notice prior to any testing in their homes.
Home owners will also receive copies of all test results.
Should you be willing to permit the Municipality to sample your home water
system, please contact the Municipal Office at (519) 527-1710,
before January 25, 2008 to schedule an appointment for the testing.
The Municipality of Huron East thanks you for your assistance in helping us to
keep your drinking water clean and safe.
