B ’* ( The Christmas meeting of the Auburn Women’s Institute was held tn the Auburn Community Memorial hall with a large attendance. The president, Mrs. Donald Hainos was .in charge and Mrs. William J. Craig at the piano. The meeting was opened by the Ode, the Mary Stewart Col­ lect nnd O, Canada, The minutes were approved as read by the secretary Mrs. Bert Craig. She also gave the financial state­ ment. She reported .that $115, had been the profit for the new park from the Centennial concert. A plaque was received by Mrs. Gordon R, Taylor from Premier Robarts congratu­ lating the Auburn Community and in recognition of out­ standing contribution by com. munity leaders and individual citizens to 1967 Centennial cele­ brations. Mrs. Frank Raithby, delegate to the London Area convention in November gave her report Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell, card convener gave her report and read the thank-you notes which she had received. She was asked to send' Christmas cards to the shut-ins. The collection was received by Mrs. Gordon Chamney and Mrs. Thomas 1 Haggitt. The members decided to again sponsor the 4-H Club, “The Club Girl Entertains” and Mrs. Wes Bradnock and Mrs. Frank Raithby were chosen leaders. Plans were made to attend summary day on January 17th for the Senior course Working with Yeast. A reading, “Recipe for a Merry Christmas” was read by Mrs. Roy Daer. Christmas carols were sung, led by Mrs. Gordon R. Taylor. Mrs. Haines introduced the guest speaker of the afternoon, Rev. R.U. Mac- Lean of Knox Presbyterian Chwnh who. gave the Christmas message, He spoK© of the significance of Advent and our preparation Jor the Christmas season, and His coming to the World, Mrs, Roy Daer thanked Mr, MacLean for his'message and on'behalf ofthe members presented him With a gift. An exchange of Christmas gifts was. held and a dainty lunch was served by Mrs, Bert Craig, Mrs, Robert Chamney, Mrs. CharlesStraug- han and Mrs, William Dodds, The lucky cup was held by­ Mrs. Orval Free, who received a gift. Mr, and Mrs, Kenneth Scott, Keith, Wayne and Eric spent Christmas Day with her parents Mr, And Mrs. James Aitcheson of Seaforth, * * * Mr. And Mrs, Charles Scott spent Christmas Day with Mr. and, Mrs, Roy Finnigan, Mrs, Laura Fowler and Mr, James McWhinney of Goderich, * * * Mr. and Mrs, William J. Craig and Mr. and Mrs, Mait­ land Allen were guests of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Craig and family in Clinton on Monday. * ♦ * K nox Teachers & pupils present concert The annual Christmas Con- pert was presented last week by the teachers and pupils of the Knox United Church Sun* day school, Rev, M. R, Roberts was the chairman and welcomed ajl and opened* the program with carol singing and Nancy Anderson at the piano. The curtain boys were Keith Lapp and Ricky Archambault. Mrs. Leonard Archambault's nursery class sang the song, Jingle Bells. A recitation was given by David Plunkett and a solo was sung by Robbie Plun­ kett, The primary class with their teacher, Brenda East had “Freddie the Little Fir Tree’* sung by Faye Hildebrand, Marilyn Wightman, The prim­ ary boys, with their teacher^ Mrs. Jack Armstrong with Jen­ nifer Grange at the piano sang “Rudolph, the Red-nosed Rein­ deer” with Clifford Branton tak­ ing the solo parts. Films, “How the Animals dis­ covered Christmas” and«Tlie Littlest Angel” were shown by Miss Marsha Koopmans. The Senior Boys with their teachers Mrs. Maurice Bean and Norman Wightman present­ ed an amusing skit, “The Old Ford Car”. The Sunshine Girls class with their teacher, Miss Marsha Koopmans sang, “The Little Drummer Boy” and “A White Christmas.” The Ex­ plorer boys with their teacher, Ed Haines had Glen Wightman play a guitar solo and Larry Plaetzer an accordian solo. Mrs. Arthur Grange and Mrs. John Hildebrand’s 'Class sang two selections, “Winter Won­ derland” and “It Came upon a Midnight Clear” with Betty Moss as pianist.
