R. I st. George, provincial curator of Tweedsmuir History books, when she conducted the work­ shop for the curators of West and South Huron Districts in the Boardrooms of the Depart­ ment of Agriculture, Clinton on Monday of this week. She was assisted by Mrs. John E. MacLean, assistant curator for th© London convention area who welcomed Mrs, Wal­ ker and the curators. The United Church Women of Knox United Church held their Centennial Thank-offer, ing’’ meeting with guests being former UCW members living in other places and members of the other church groups in • the village. Receiving the guests, dressed in Centennial dresses and others were Mrs. Sidney Lansing and Mrs. Bert Marsh. Mrs. Kenneth McDougall ; and Mrs.’ John Durnin were in charge of the meeting^ Mrs. Durnin led in the read­ ing and closed her meditation with prayer, Mrs, McDougall told the story of toe First Thanksgiving for toe 19 fam­ ilies and compared conditions today and stated that she won­ dered which age was the most sincere in their thanksgiving .service. After leading in pray­ er, Mrs. McDougall wel­ comed visiting friends and former members and thanked Mrs, Ernest Durnin for ar­ ranging the program, A ladies’ trio from Gode- ‘ rich consisting of Mrs. Ron Bushell, Mrs. JohnWestbrook and Mrs. William Hanly gave two selections, UA Thanks­ giving Hymn” and “When I Kneel to Prayy’ accompanied by toe churcn organist, Mrs. Brian Hallam. The offering was received by Mrs, Stanley Ball and Mrs. Arthur Grange and ded­ icated with prayer by Mrs. M„ R, Roberts, Mrs. Emmer­ son Rodger and Mrs. Thomas Jardin of Wingham sang a duet accompanied by Mrs. Norman Wightman. Mrs. Charles Merrill intro­ duced the guest speaker, Mrs. George Michie of Brussels, president of the west section of the Huron Presbyterial,_4 Mrs. Ernest Durnin thanked Mrs, Michie for her inspiring message. After the closing hymn, Mrs. Roberts pronoun­ ced the benediction. A social time followed in the Sunday School room and thanks was expressed by Mrs., Wilfred Sanderson,, of Knox Presby­ terian WMS^Mrs. Robert J. Phillips of the Baptist Churchy Mrs. Thomas Haggitt of St. .Mark’s Anglican Guild, Mrs. fcharles • Smith' of Westfield k UCW and Mrs. James Leddy of Donnybrook UCW. Mrs. Walker reviewed the duties set up by the W1 and stated that the Department of Education use these history books in the schools todays for references. A colorful display of history books, of Churches and schools, and Fam.ilx trees was a great help for those attend­ ing this workshop. Those present were Mrs. M.. I. The resolutions were also dis­ cussed. ■ The members voted to apply for the advanced leatoercraft course and plans were made to hold a Community Concert on November 8 to help with the buying of equipment for our new park; such as tables, bar­ becue, trash cans etc. A com­ mittee was named to convene this concert. After the opening hymn and the Call to Worship, the purpose and the Lord’s prayer was repea­ ted in unison. The scripture lesson was read by Mirgaret Roberts with meditation taken by Mrs. M„ R. Roberts, After answering the roll call it was decided not to have a Hallowe’en party this year The offering was received by Sherry Plaetzer and dedica­ ted* Brenda Ball, the assist­ ant leader introduced the guest of the evening, Rev. M„ R. Roberts, who showed pictures of his (rip to the East coast this past summer. He also showed the pictures from Kenya. Miss Laura Phillips brought 'the letter which she had received from Mr. and Mrs, Toll, and Shelly Grange read it. The minutes were accepted as read by Joyce Lehtoerland.
