OBITUARY New community park on Maitland banks The community of Auburn is to have a new park on the banks of the Maitland River, Approval of this project was given by the County Council committee when they met recently with members of the Auburn Women’s Insti­ tute committee. Warden Donald McKenzie led the delegation to the site just south of the Patterson bridge between the old road and the new by-pass on County road 25 at Auburn. The Huron County Coupon agriculture committee composed of John Corbett, Hay Township chairman, Hugh Flym Hullett township, Gordon Boyd, Deputy Reeve Ashfield town- ship, Douglas Miles, Huron County Agriculture Represents, tiye, Roy Pattison, EastWawa- nosh township, Jim Britnell, County Engineer, John C. Berry, county clerk treasurer, ana Fred Janser, Stratford, Zone Forester. Plans were discussed how the site could be made into a suit­ able park where picnickers could drive to the river’s edge and enjoy the scenery. Work has already star ted and more work will be done this fall to get it ready for next summer. This project was started two years ago by the Women’s In. stitute member s and it is hoped that the community will rally and help financially with Pic­ nic tables etc to make this a Centennial project for our com. munity whore the young folk of the community can enjoy them, selves a? well as the other Citizens who like the out Qf 'doors. Donald MacDonald chose for his inspiring message speaH on the subject, “Is Faith A Farce Of A Force??’ He spoke of the early pioneers and their faith an also the ex. periences of those in the Old Testament, In defining Farce he stated that it is defined as a laughable joke and stated that many today laugh at the Chris, tian’s beliefs. He challenged todays church members and followers of Christ to work out their faith and stand up for Christ and His teachings along with the call for Mis­ sionary work among the mil­ lions starving in Asia. The offering was received by the ushers, Kenneth McDougall, Allan McDougall, Lawrence piaetzer and Clifford Hallam.. Thanksgiving worshi at Ont St United Layman s Sunday held AUBURN - Layman’s Sunday was observed at the Auburn Baptist Church lastSunday. The service was led by Glen Rice with Miss Nancy Anderson at the organ. The invotfational prayer was given by James Rice and the responsive reading was led by Harry Webster. The Scripture lesson from St. Luke 9; 57-62, 10: 1—12 was read by Frank Raithby, followed by prayer by Torrance Tabb. The pastor Mr. Jack Heynen gave the announcements and the offering was received by Gor­ don Youngblut. The sermon was given by Bert Doran. His topic, “Men on the March” was based on Mark 2:14th verse.
