George Wilson. Sr, The pair came to Canada seven years later with their two sous, Gfeprge and Adam, and took up residence in the Brucefield area where they have lived ever since, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Sr. were celebratingwith their fam­ ily., at the Clinton Hotel last Friday, September 15, Attending ago were their spns and daughters- in-law, Mr, and Mrs. George Wilson Jr., Varna, and Mr. and Mrs, Adam Wilsin, Bruce­ field, and their three grand, children. S/L Clark, the technical services officer for aeronautical engineering at Training Command Headquarters, Winnipeg, attended the graduation ceremonies held - at CFB Clinton, JW rally at centre three days next week Harl McNally, Clinton minis­ ter for Jehovah’s Witnesses, has announced final plans for an assembly of the Witnesses at the new Clinton Community Centre on September 29, 30, and October 1. The newly completed centre will be used to present a pro­ gram to more than 500.dele­ gates from 15 other communi­ ties in this area. The assembly theme, “Walk-, ing Orderly by Spirit,” will direct attention of the delegates to many personal aspects of a • Christian’s behavior that can be guided by the force of Jeh­ ovah’s Spirit. The assembly will be a fam­ ily affair, attended by all ages, and will provide direction and encouragement in the public ministry practiced by the Wit­ nesses, Each Witness regards himself as a minister with the obligation of the commission that directs them to evangelize or spread the knowledge and the advantage of the Christian Way of life to all he can contact. This has resulted in their dis­ tinctive door-to-door ministry. The three day program of 18 different speakers will use panel discussions, demonstra­ tion, lectures etc, to commun­ icate to the audience their as­ signed topics. The table was covered Historians review pioneer century The first autumn meeting of the Huron County Historical Society was held at Wesley- Willis United Church, Clinton on Thursday evening, Sept­ ember 14, with an attendance of about sixty. With a lace tablecloth and cen­ tred with a wedding cake, flan­ ked by pink and. white candles in silver holders, and bowls of sweet peas.and asters. A dainty lunch was served by Mrs, Aaron Fisher, Mrs. Jim Fisher and Mrs. George Noble of’Brussels, A gift from the family was presented by Kenneth Noble of Brussels. An’ enjoyable evening was spent by all. Mr. Noble is a brother of Mrs. Aaron Fisher. TO WORK FOR YOU Photo by Art' Studio MARZANO - CALDWELL The Church of Immaculate Conception, Toronto, was the setting recently for the double ring ceremony when Nancy Isa­ bel Caldwell exchanged wedding vows with Joseph Marzano, Father Irwin Peedmont offi­ ciated at the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr, and Mrs, Leonard Cald­ well of Londesboro and the groom’s parents are M.\. and MARZANO CAWMU Mrs. C, Marzano of Roseto, Italy. , The bride, given marriage by her father, wore a floor- length gown of crushed ^ilk crepe. The bodice was high­ lighted by a scoop neckline, elbow-length peeves, trimmed with crystal droplets, an em­ pire waist and a graceful chapel train falling from the shoulders. To complete her bridal outfit the bride wore a four-tier shoul­ der-length French silk illusion veil which cascaded from a, small wedding ring band of crushed silk crepe trimmed with crystal droplets. She car­ ried a bouquet of white par- nations and a white orchid. Attending her as matron of honor was Mrs. Urbano Di San­ to, of Downsview, sifter of the groom. She wore a floor-length gown of turquoise georgette over . powder blue taffeta fa­ shioned on the same lines as the bride’s gown, and a match, ing headpiecp consisting of ro. ses of turquoise georgette. She carried a crescent bouquet of white and aqua.carnations, Bridesmaids were Miss Wen­ dy Caldwell, of Londesboro, sister of the bride, and Miss Muriel Speicher, of, Graven- hurst. They wore identical floor-length gowns of powder blue georgette over turquoise taffeta with headdresses and bouquets similar to the matron of honor. The Snell family was one of the pioneer families of Huron County and the worthy member had many stories of the early days in this area. Rev-. Snell is also a descen­ dant of Col. Anthony Van Egmond and told of the CoU onel’s part, along with that of the Canada Company, the Dunlop’s, Sir John Galt and others in bringing in settlers and building roads. Col. Van Egmond had teams on the roads, which he had helped to build, constantly transporting settlers mostly from the Canada Com- pany, across country to their lots. On July 17, 1963 a National Historic Plague was unveiled at Egmondville and Rev. Harold Snell, the great, great grand­ son, led in prayer at that cer­ emony. Tribute was also paid to the work of other pioneers, Jonas Gibbings,. the Vanderburgh Bro- thers, William Rattenbury,Ric­ hard Twaites, Malcalm McTag- gart, Col. Rance' and Henry Ransford. ' It was a fascinating talk and those present felt that they had learned many items of history of this part of Huron County. Miller Adams of Huronview, an oldtime fiddler who is over 90 years of age, favored with several musical numbers.
