I was wrong. The Board of
Broadcast Governors in Ottawa
decided to allow CKVR - TV,
Channel 3,Barrie, to move thdir
tower to Palgrave, which means
it will now serve Toronto resi
dents.
The Electronics Industries
Association of Canada told the
Board that there will be inter
ference with the reception of
channels 2 and 4 from Buffalo.
The owners of Barrie say there '
will be no interference.
Perhaps you can remember
back a few years ago when the
Conservative Government un
der John Diefenbaker granted
a TV license to the Toronto
Telegram which operates Chan
nel 9. Everybody said ft was,
a political pay-off.
The owners Of the Barrie
Station, Ralph Snelgrove, Allan
Waters and Geoffrey Stirling,
are known to be supporters of
the Liberal Party.
SnelgrovO was the Liberal
candidate in Bhtrie, but resi
dents Wouldn't elect him,
NOw the Liberals are in power
and the political pay-offs con
tinue. There isn't any difference
between the PC's and the Lib*
erhls,
It is now rip to the Toronto
residents to complain. But will
they? They Won't complain
until Channel 3 interferes with
the &tiffelO channels. And when
that happens there won’t be one
Liberal elected in the Tofdata
area in the next election.
