Walkerburn Club Plans Picnic For Next Meeting AUBURN — The 49th annual meeting of the Walkerburn Club was held at the home of Mrs. Joe Verwey with the president Mrs. Ted Hunking, in charge. The meeting was opened by sing­ ing “O Canada” with meditation and prayer given on Peace. The minutes were read by the sec­ retary, Mr. Elliott Lapp. The roll call was answered by the paying of fees. The trea­ surer’Mrs. Walter Cunningliayn presented the annual financial statement. It was decided to send a gift to Mrs. Henry Hunk­ ing and an invitation to attend a special meeting of the Londes- boro WI was accepted, when all are to wear Centennial cos­ tumes, The members decided to sell tickets on their beautiful Cen­ tennial quilt and to have the draw in the fall. Plans were made for the next meeting which will be a picnic at the home of Mrs. Ted Hunk­ ing. The prize draw gift was won by Mrs. Leonard Archam­ bault. It had been given by Mrs. Ted Hunking. The Board of Broadcast Governors in Ottawa decided to allow CKVR - TV, Channel 3,Barrie, to move thdir tower to Palgrave, which means it will now serve Toronto resi­ dents. The Electronics Industries Association of Canada told the Board that there will be inter­ ference with the reception of channels 2 and 4 from Buffalo. The owners of Barrie say there ' will be no interference. Perhaps you can remember back a few years ago when the Conservative Government un­ der John Diefenbaker granted a TV license to the Toronto Telegram which operates Chan­ nel 9. Everybody said ft was, a political pay-off. The owners Of the Barrie Station, Ralph Snelgrove, Allan Waters and Geoffrey Stirling, are known to be supporters of the Liberal Party. SnelgrovO was the Liberal candidate in Bhtrie, but resi­ dents Wouldn't elect him, NOw the Liberals are in power and the political pay-offs con­ tinue. There isn't any difference between the PC's and the Lib* erhls, It is now rip to the Toronto residents to complain. But will they?
