Stovel, Commander of Training Command, inspects the graduates of the Reserve Officers’ School at CFB Clinton. last Wednesday afternoon at graduation Two hundred and fifty of­ ficer Cadets, representing 40 different universities and col­ lege squadrons across, Canada graduated from the Reserve Officers School at Canadian Forces Base Clinton^ on Wed­ nesday, June 21. i . The’, graduation exercises marked the completion of six weeks extensive basic train­ ing for the Cadets which in­ cluded courses in general ser­ vice knowledge, leadership; nuclear, biological and chemi­ cal warfare; service law, world affairs, service writing, drill and athletics. ' , The cadets paraded in the ceremonies with the salute being taken by Air Vice Mar­ shall R. C. Stovel, the Com­ mander of Training Command. z In his address to the gradu- exercises. - ’ ates, A/V/M Stovel predict­ ed a rosy future for all those who enrolled in the. proposed integrated armed forces. In addition, A/V/M Stovel pre­ sented trophies to the best, cadet flight in academics, drill, athletics and general proficiency competition. The education of those ca­ dets whp wish to make a car­ eer in the Armed Forces as- regular force officers is sub-,, sidized at the university of* their chbice, under the Regu­ lar Officer Training Plan. Furthermore both men and women students interested in the.RAF may join as Officer Cadets under the University Reserve Training Plan. Mr. and Mrs. McKinley of Burlington returned to their home last Thursday after a week spent with the latter’s sister, Mrs. Skimmins. Skimmins accompanied them for a short visit. .Mrs. Bud Sinclair and son Lonnie of London and daughter, Mrs. Al Doerr of Chatham spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Livingstone. Harve Hunking returned home on Sunday after a three month treatment in Westmin­ ster. Hospital. We hope he is much improved. The devotional period was led by Mrs. Wil­ liam Townshend. \ The story of “Eve” was given by Mrs. William'" Townshend. The • president, Mrs. Elgin Cox conducted the business meeting. Plans were made for the Centennial Ham and Salad Supper to be held Wednesday, July 19 in the church basement and committees were named to be in charge of this event. At the close of the meeting lunch was served by the hos­ tess. , r - There will be. no meeting in July and the August meeting is to be held at the home of Mrs. Verna Harris, Clinton. ' ■’ » * * .-is ■ The regular morning worship at Grace Church oh July 2 will take the form of a Cen­ tennial service in conjunction with the celebrations of Can­ ada’s 100th birthday. Children’s Anniversary ’ a An impressive service of worship was held on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. at the Holmesville United Church when the Sun­ day School Anniversary was celebrated. , . James .Lobb, Sunday School Superintendent, opened the ser­ vice with the Call to Worship .and prayer by Dr. Mowatt, The Sunday School choir formed a procession up the aisle to the hymn “This is, my Fathers World”. The kindergarten class, • as­ sisted by their teachers Miss Norma Walter and Mrs. ’ Ray Potter placed flowers on the altar as the choir sang “We Thank Thee for the Flowers”. Leonard Lobb led in the respon­ sive reading and the scripture, poems and offering dedication were given by Wendy Miller, Connie Harris, Carole Steepe and Randy Blake. ’ Dr. Mowatt told the children the interesting 'story of “The Man who loved the Lilies”. - Summer Services There will be church at 9:45 a.m. as usual during the month of July. The congregation will worship with Oritario St. Church .at 11 a.m. during the month of August.
