There will be five events, three of which are double heat races; eight races in all. Post- time is 5:30 p.m. Goderich Trotting, and Agri cultural Association' had also requested the July 12 date for the opening of their floodlit race track. The winners were presented with Centennial pins donated by Anstett Jewellers Ltd. Gravel Truck Goes Through Bridge In Stanley Township; Two Injured Twp wn wrp injured Mon* day when ■Jihieix* gravel ti’uek fell .through a Stanley Tcwp- sjl'dp. bridge on the second con cession. Earlier in the day, Stanley Tewgship road supehtotendeut Bill Taylor had' warned truck drivers not to use the bridge. No load limit sign was posited near the bridge- The bridge, over the B'ayfield River, was a Huron County bridge. Ernest Talbot/ reeve of Stan ley Township, said the bridge was in good repair considering its age. Injured in the accident were truck driver Richard McKellar, 30, RR 7, Thedford, and Robert- Logan, 35, RR 5, Parkhill. Mr. Logan received back in* juries and multiple cuts. Mr. McKellar was treated for slight’ injuries; Const. Bill Kteps of the Gode rich detachment of the OPP de scribed the accident as follows: The tractor trailer had been hauling gravel from Potter’s pit in Goderich Township to Stan ley Township. The gravel was being used for road work. The cab of the truck made it safely across the bridge, but the trailer .wtte of the truck Was left hanging against a bridge abutment as the bridge floor collapsed. The competing girls and boys were divided into three classes. Senior girls rii'ampion was Edda Steegstra and Brian West brook placed first in the senior boys’ class. Diane Fil'ion won the intermediate girls champ ionship and Eddy Steegsta. was the top intermediate boy. In the junior category, Shar on Potter was the top female athlete and Gerry Steegsitra placed first in the boys’ events. He was a son '6£ - the late Mr. and Mrs. John Clegg. Born 'in Grey Township, he came to the Clinton area in. 1931. Surviving are has Wife, the: former Elsie Farquhar; one son, Jack, Niagara Falls; two grandchildr-en; The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ball funeral home, here, with Dr. A. J. Rev. R. U. MacLean of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church here, conducted the service. Funeral directors were A. W. Miles Lirpited, Toronto and Ball Funeral Home, Clinton. The child was a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kilty, Tor onto and of Justice and Mrs: Ferguson, also of Toronto. Mrs. Kilty was a daughter of the late Dr. and1 Mrs. J. W. Shaw of Clinton.
