Irwin Haskett, Ontario Minister of Transport. The new signs will be introduced as old signs need replacing, with the job expected to take five to 10 years. When odd signs need replacing, the new signs: will be used in an increasing humb'er of cases on both provincial and municipal streets and highways. Gradual transition . to the new signs is expected to ex­ tend over some years. "The greatest possible uni­ formity of traMc signs is clearly desirable, for the sake of safety as well as conveni-. fence of motorists,” Mr. Has- ' kett said- "It liis equally desirable that 'such signs be recognizable at a glance, and that they be clear to all drivers,” the Min­ ister said. Mrs. x Ray Wise offered her MIDDLETON home for the June meeting and also suggested it have a Centen­ nial flavour with everyone com­ ing jn costume if possible. Each member was asked to bring thear earliest photo or snap­ shot for an ider#fication game. (No bearskins allowed,) The highlight pf the after­ noon was the annual plant sale and as usual (there were offer­ ings galore brought .by the members and the society also acknowledges with thanks con­ tributions from Mrs. Clifford Epps of Clinton and from Mr. Harrison.
