Riddell of Brantford spent the week-end with Mrs. Hdith Flyinn Miss Wilda Pollock and Miss Edith 'Banker of Kitchenei' were guests with Mr. and Ml’s. Lorne Hicks on Friday of last week. Mr. E. Lamport is confined to his home owing to illness. We hope to see him out again in the near future. Barrie of Detroit spent a couple of days last week with hex' sister, Mrs. C. O’Brien, and attended the funeral of her brother-in-law, the late Mr. C. O’Brien on Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Hicks, Mr, and Mrs. Andrew Hicks visit­ ed Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. S. Henry and family in Listowel. A number from the village at­ tended the musical concert under the direction of Mr. L. Weixx in the Crediton U.B. Church Mon­ day evening. . Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lightfoot and family visited with relatives in -Grand Bend on Sunday. Sunday visitors with Mrs. C. O’Briexx were Mr. and Mrs. Ger­ ald 'O’Brien and family of Mount Car m el, Mr. and Mrs. Earl O’Brieix and Linda of Arkona, Mi’, and Mrs. Ray Snell and daughter’ of Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. Snell are remaining for a couple of weeks. Our deepest sympathy is ex­ tended to Mrs. O’Brien and .fam­ ily in their' sad bereavement. Mr. and Mrs. F. A fullei’ announcement will apear in next week’s paper. The Alert Missioxx Band will meet on Sunday morning, May 21, at the usual time at the home of Mrs. F. Bowden. Mr. and Mrs. Kexx Mason, Peter and Nancy of Belgrave, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Denham and Cheryl of Kirkton, and Mr. and Mrs. John McAllister, Neil and Dale, spent Mother’s Day with Mrs. Cecil Skinner and Mother’s Day Service Well Attended A large congregation the Mother’s Day service in the church Sunday morning. Mr. Reg. Hodgsoxx was the leader. Music was provided by the Sun­ day School with Mr. C. Spinner leading and Maxine Godbolt as pianist. The church was decorat­ ed with baskets of spring flow­ ers. A beautiful fuschia plant in memory of the late Mrs. James Neil and placed ixx the church by hex’ son Murray, adorned the ! pulpit. The scripture readings ! were given by Doreen Proctor. The story of Timothy was told by Mrs. Weix' iix her usual cap­ able manner. A very fine Mo­ ther’s Day address was given by the pastor, Rev. Weir. Five chil­ dren were baptized during the service. ... However, everyone co-operat­ ed in the voting and here are the results: Teen Town Council —< Mayor, Clhuck -Cowen; Aldermen, Ward 1, Lorna Taylor, Dorothy Pooley, Shirley M-oore, Joan Hopper, June Walters, Julia Dunlop-. Ward 2, Don Petrie, Orland Tay­ lor, Bill Maybee, Bruce Cudmore, Andy Blomaert, Ted Prout. We congratulate these teeners and we are trusting that they, will make oui’ coming year a great success. The council will be meeting very soon in the fu­ ture to -plan for the next dance. Three Babies Baptized At Mother’s Day Service Mother’s Day service was held in Elimville Church Sunday with a large crowd in attendance. Three babies received rites of baptism, Stephen Douglas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Johns; Hubert Wesley Herbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Heywood; Ronald Graham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Ford. Special Mothers’ Day Services Held Here Many lovely spring flowers adorned the alter of St. And­ rew’s United Church oix Sunday morning when a special Mothers’ Day service was held. Mothers of the congregation formed a large choix’ and sang for theix* anthem “She Is Waiting for Me”. . „ .. The Mothers’ Day programs followed: “The Call of Timothy” was dramatized by Wayne Mc­ Bride, Ami Sinclaii’ and Lois McLellan. Much encouragement was felt by the teachers and scholars of the Sunday School for the’large attendance present. Anniversary Services To Be The United their Sunday.
