would not enhance the religious aspect of the
ceremony.
IF THERE IS an organ at your disposal
for your wedding, one- would be advised to
choose music written for the organ specifically
and not music that has been transposed from
orchestra music for the organ.
Music which was expressly composed for
organ and can be used in a wedding ceremony
is the Fantasie in C. by Franck and the Bell
Symphony by Henry Purcell.
The traditional "Lohengrin" wedding march
by Richard Wagner is still popular, but is so
over-used that it has become a musical cliche
not befitting either the music or the ceremony.
Mendelssohn's march from "Midsummer
Night's Dream" is the other popular compo-
sition which is sometimes played for the reces-
sional.

tant churches for the congregation at the
wedding to sing ,hymns for the processional.
In this way it is felt that the sacred portion
of the service is enhanced.
Quite apart from "normal" church music is
the playing of guitar music at a wedding
ceremony. At present the idea seems fairly
radical, but remember that the Spaniards have
used the instrument for decades as court in-
struments and ;iccompAniments for the most
stately occasions.

If you are getting married and "Oh, prom-
ise Inc" and "Because" aren't your kind of
music, don't despair, there are so many other
musical selections from which to choose for
your wedding, that it would take a life-time
to explore them all.
Venerable Johann Sebastian Bach should
not be discounted when choosing sacred music
to usher in your guests, for the processional
or recessional, and then to usher out your
guests.
If you have an ear for the Baroque, hire
yourself a small ensemble of musicians (call
local music schools or colleges and ask them
if they have musicians interested in playing
for weddings).
It should be remembered that if your wed-
ding is in a house of worship, your musical
selections should be sacred. Rarely are senti-
mental secular tunes like "I Love You Truly"
