M. of the nations.—T' Sanders of Exeter has donated a plaque to the Exeter District High School, ( In the proceeding article he outlines _the aims and objects of the plaque. Several of the business .men of Exeter have had bronze plaques made as prizes for the successful pupils in the various contests in the Exeter District High School. These are very commendable in their various endeavors, but to the writer’s mind they7 have omitted the most important of all, that is the building of high Christian character in order to fill the world’s greatest need to day. There was a splendid article in the January 31st edition of the -Globe and Mail featuring the Boy Scout movement, their aims and objects in life, the rigid examinations they have to pass in order to obtain the Kings Scout certificate which contains their pledge for a useful life ser vice as follows: King’s Scout Certificate You have prepared .yourself as a King’s Scout for service to God, King and Country, and have pledged yourself to the high ideals of world citizenship as envisioned by the Great World-Wide Scout Movement. You have completed the tests required of those who seek the rank been awarded this high recogni tion with through life; may it prove you a joyous adventure. “Building Boys Better Than Mending Men” —Slogan Of Scouts The Boy Scout movement older than the Dominion of Can ada and has been built from the ground up. The first lines of their King’s Scout certificate is as follows: “You have prepared yourself as a King’s Scout for service to God, King and Coun try.” They are a hand of dean young men. .Men of high Chris tian character. The class of men the woil.i is in need of today. I Men of leadership; men who can __ ______—Men whom God can trust as he did 'his own SohJ whom he gave the derogative of all power in h e a v e n and on earth. These are the calibre of men the Scouts themselves are zealous to become. With all this in mind the writer has had a bronze plaque .made embodying these principles to be presented to the Exeter District High School for the inspiration of all the pupils attending this institu tion. The wording on this plaque is as follows: To serve ’God, King and Country Exetei’ District High School For He said “Without me ye can do nothing” Exh oration the pupils of this school, Proverbs 1: 3 & .5 3. To receive the instruction of Wisdom, Justice, Judgment, and Equity. 5. A wise man will hear and in crease learning and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels. The interpretation of the Latin words are: “The result crowns the labour” Donated by S. M.
