In the Clinton-Blyth Ladies' League, the Slow Pokes have a slim lead with 60 points, followed closely by the Six Pin Pals with 59, the Busty Beanties with 54, the Happy Hookers and the Teetotalers with '51 each, the Boo-Boos with 43, the Alley Cars with 42, and the Swinging Mamas with 40, Judy Arenburg had both the high single of 298 and the high triple of 743, while Mary Davey had the high average of 215, The Knock Outs still have a commanding lead in the Lon? desboro Ladies' League with 66 points, followed at a distance by the Dead Beats and the Head Hunters with 46 and the' Hopefuls with 38. Donalda Bell and Genevieve Allen were the most improved bowlers with + 25, The lead has changed again in the exciting Crown Junior League with the Aristocats leading this week with 42 points, followed closely by the Corner Pins with 41, and the Strike , Outs and the Alley Crackers with 40 each. Tony VanDenDool had both the men's high single of 302 and the high triple of 713. In the Ladies' Afternoon League, the Pole Cats are still the leaders with 60 points, followed by the Alley Cats with 44 points', and the Bob Cats and the Tom Cats with 25 each. Joyce Van Riesen had the high single of 245, and Gerry Harris had the high triple of 671. Clinton Public School has had many activities in the first term of 1973.74 and we would like to tell you some of them. in mid-November, grades 1 and 5 had tuberculosis skin tests, The children in kin- dergarten received measles shots also. On November 26th, 27th and 28th, parent interviews were held. They are now completed, Each Friday there are assem- blies. The assembly on Decem- ber '7th was based on "The Night. Before Christmas". It was put on by Mrs. Jewitt's and Mrs. Allen's grade 6 class. Floor hockey has been organized. Girls and boys from grades 3 to 8 may compete in floor hockey which is now well underway. During the first fall of snow, Mr, Taylor and some helpers fenced in a snowball area on the school yard. The fence is made of rags, ropes and stakes. On December 20th grades 5 to 8 are having a Christmas dance, The last dance that grades -6 to 8 had was it noon hour dance.. .We had a school crest contest in which Larry Riehl won. The school colours are to be red and gold. • Electives are going on for grades 6 to S. They do things like chess, sewing and bad/1141- ton orienteering. The senior girls are. organizing a volleyball team which will compete against other schools. Practices started on Thursday December 6th. The Christmas holidays begin on December 21st and end on Jan, 2nd. Our first school term this year was interesting, busy and enjoyable. We're looking for- ward to the second term being the same. Erin Phillips Sherry Johnston ASSEMBLY Grade 2B put on an assembly on Dec. 14th at 1 p.m, in the auditorium. Our program opened with "0 Canada" and the Lord's Prayer:. The name of the play was "Santa and the' Stow,- away'. We Sang "JiMilly Christmas" at the beginning of our play, Jiminy Christmas was played by Cheryl MacDonald, who danced to the music, "Santa and the $tow-away is about Santa's. Anger at boys and girls who never say "Thank Yen." The people in the cast were; Jimmy Davis Terry Dobson, Santa Claus - Scott Kay, Mrs. Santa Leanne Thurlow, Helpers Doug MacLean, Jen- nifer Clynick, Scott Ducharme and Janet Trench, Children; Tammy Welch, Kent Colquhoun, Patrick Malpess, Pawn MacLeod; Pat Paul Nice, Kathy Ladd, Ricky Gilbert, Curtain bay- Dirk Un- derhill, Elves- Mary Ann Deweerd, Dennis PDX, Annette Garner, Patty Eackenbrook, Jason Lormand, Christene McGee, Doug Smith, Tommie Vender Meulen, Jamie Work- man and Steven Hynes, Com- mentator was Jeff Conic. At the end we sang "We Wish You A Merry Christ- mas". Then Mr. Taylor gave us some announcements and the assembly was dismissed. Mrs. Black's Grade 2
