"The heroic dead will have died in vain unless out of vic- tory shall come a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness. "The Church has much to. give and much to galn—The Church can give a spirit of goodwill, without which no League of Nations can endure... "The League of Nations is rooted in the Gospel. Like the Gospel, its objective' is "peace on earth, goodwill toward Men." Like the Gospel, its ap- peal is universal." The "Gospel" Jesus preached was concerning the "Kingdom" of which Isaiah said: ".,.unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given... and the government shall be upon his shoulder; of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end...The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."(9:6,7) But the "political expression of the Kingdom of God on earth" came to an end in 1939 with the outbreak of World War II. If the Federal Council of Churches meant to instruct'and direct its people to the kingdom of God under Christ, then it did its people a disservice in hailing the League as "the political expression of God's kingdom on earth." Would it not have been more in line with truth to tell them what the, Scriptures say concerning how that kingdom will operate? (Daniel 2:44) Jesus Christ is no longer the "babe" of Bethlehem; nor the suffering "man of Calvary"; but he is now "the King of kings and Lord of lords". It is time Christians recognized him as such. (1 Timothy 6:16) Looking to the glorified Christ for true peace in our time. Mr. and Mrs, John Thomp- son attended the Don Hoist Christmas party in Walkerton on Saturday evening. Sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jamieson and family on the passing of his brother-in- law Bill La Sutter of Stratford the past week. I am, sincerely C.F.
