Magic Circle helps Church

The Christmas meeting of
Kipper' •U,C.W. was held Dec'.
11 at the home of Mrs. H. Ben-
nendyk with 26 present,
The meeting opened with a
welcome from the acting
president, Mrs. David Turner
and a prayer "Conversation
with God",
Mrs, Paul Packman was in
charge of the Worship $ervice,
the theme being "Christmas"
$he began with a poem "God's
Christmas Tree" and a passage
taken from the "Ideals"
magazine. The offering was
taken by the hostesses, Mrs,
Consitt and Mrs. Bill Charters
and was dedicated with a
prayer by Mrs. Packman.
Worship continued with can.
die lighting and the Christmas
message of courage, faith and
love and closed with a reading
regarding gifts entitled "What
may I give?"
The business portion was
chaired by Mrs. David Turner.
The roll call was answered
with "My Favourite Christ-
mas" A flower committee for
the church was arranged, con-
sisting of volunteers for Unit 1 -
Mrs: Norman Dickert, Unit 2
Mrs, Emerson Kyle and Unit 3
- Mrs. Percy Wright. The
treasurer's report was given
was read by Mrs. Greta
Nediger. Mrs. Oliver continued
with the meditation and Miss
•Cathie Potter supplied special
accordion music. As a first
selection, she played "Star of
the East".
As this program was a joint
effort, everyone participated by
reading a short verse, about
Christmas, as a roll call.
Business was called for, during
which the new slate of officers
was read and approved,
The cheque of gratitude from
the Paisley Family was
received and $25 was voted to
the Sunday School primary
department, on a motion of
Greta Nediger and Bessie
Steepe.
Cathie Potter played again,
this time, "0 Holy Night",
which was enjoyed by all. Gifts
were exchanged and during the
preparations of refreshirient0
Christmas contest was played
which was won by Mrs. Ferrol
Pennebaker.
A social cup of tea and
Christmas dainties ended a
successful evening,

Two businessmen were
talking. "Is your advertising
getting results?" asked the
first.
"It sure is," moaned the
second. "Last week we adver-
tised for a night watchman and
the next night we were rob-
bed."
The regular monthly meeting
of the Magic Circle of Wesley
Willis Church was held on
Tuesday December 11 at the
church.
This Christmas meeting was
preceded by Carol singing at
the hospital and at Van Dam-
mes rest home. This was en-
joyed by the members and they
hope, by the sick and retired
people.
The meeting was opened by
Mrs. Florence Oliver and 18
ladies were welcomed. A hymn
was sung and Florence Oliver
led in prayer and read a poem
"What can I give Him". The of-
fering was received and a poem
"Little One" was read,
dedicating it to the Christ
Child.
The Christmas meditation
was in two parts. Mrs. Mary
Murch took the first part. A
hymn was sung and scripture
and It was decided to send the
same allocation as last year
and to purchase a record
player, cord and records for the
church use only. The rose
report was given by Mrs. Laird
Finlayson, the sunshine report
by Mrs. Norman Dickert.
A musical number was given
by the three Bennendyk boys
when Michael and David sang
two numbers accompanied by
John on the ukuleh3,
Mrs. Torn Reid gave the
correspondence. Members
voted $25 to the winterization
project at Camp Menesetung at
Goderich and $500 to the board
of stewards,
The topic was taken by Mrs,
Harold Jones and consistedi of
a reading. "The two from
Galilee", It was a timely,
touching and inspiring version
of the Christmas story. Cour-
tesy remarks were given by
Mrs. Robert Elgie.
The President thanked the
ladies for their help throughout
the year and reviewed the
January meeting which will be
a pot luck supper with each
member bringing a visitor and
a favourite recipe.
The hostesses, Mrs. Ray Con-
sitt and Mrs. Bill Charters ser-
ved a delicious lunch in the
Christmas motif.
