This energy saving can go too
far!!! M approximately 5:20
p.m, Tuesday afternoon, with
the darkness already en-
veloping the town, the lights in
the News-Record along with a
number of stores on the east
side of Albert Street were sud-
denly extinguished. Knowing
exactly where there was a
flashlight (or thinking she
knew) your writer groped her
way to the cupboard where
same is kept. Once there
everything came to hand except
"it", Being a non-smoker - not
even a match or lighter to be
had. Finally - the depths of the
cupboard yielded what felt like
a flashlight and with its help
we were able to gather up the
remainder of the Christmas
greeting ads which we had
spent the day compiling for this
edition.

Christmas being the remem-
bering season - let us remember
with appreciation those who
give up some of their Christmas
Day so that we are not denied
essential services even in the
midst of the holiday festivities -
the doctors, nurses and staffs
who attend at hospitals, those
on duty in police departments,
telephone operators, others on
call for the P.U.C. and fire
departments. To these a special
thanks - and to each of you our
readers A MERRY, MERRY
CHRISTMAS.
