YOUNGBLUT
The Auburn community waa
saddened last Friday morning
to learn of the sudden death of
Jeannette M. Youngblut at her
home in the village. She was
the daughter of the late John
McNabb and Mary McNair and
was born in Grey Township on
June 27, 1907. She was in her
67th year.
Following her marriage to
Major Youngblut they resided
on the Auburn-Blyth road until
they retired to Auburn two
years ago. She was a member of
Knox Presbyterian Church un-
til it closed 'and then she joined
Knox United Church where she
was also a member of the
U.C.W. She was a member ,of
the Presbyterian W,M.S. and
also the Women's Institute and
the Blyth Regal Chapter
Eastern Star Lodge.
She was also a registered
nurse, graduating from St.
Michael's Hospital School of
Nursing in Toronto in 1929.
Surviving besides her
husband are' seven sons, Keith
of Timmins; Ross of R.R. 1
Auburn; Stewart, Toronto;
Lyle, Blyth; Lynn, Toronto;
Bruce, Craig; and Murray of
Toronto; and six daughters,
Mrs. Alan (Patricia) Rush,
Waterloo; Mrs. Donald (Helen)
Smith, Monkton; Miss Betty at
home; Mrs. James (Marjorie)
Camton, Sarnia; Mrs. Sheldon
(Marian) Warren, London; and

WALKERBURN CLUB
The monthly meeting of the
Walkerburn Club was held at
the home of Mrs. Ted Hunking
with Mrs. Flunking presiding.
The minutes were adopted as
read by the assistant secretary,
Mrs. John Hallam. The finan-
cial statement was given by the
treasurer, Mrs. Thomas Cun-
ningham.
Roll call was answered by
giving donations to' the
Children's Aid Society. A
donation was also sent to the
Korean Foster Child.
. It was reported that the af-
ternoon at Hullett Central
School with Mr. Colin Fingland
of Wingham was a decided suc-
cess. He told the history of the
Walkerburn community.
The program was in charge
of Mrs. Ted Hunking and Mrs.
John Hallam. They had Mrs,
Brian Hallam demonstrating
how to make Christmas tree
decorations and she told the
significance of each in relation
to the Christmas story.
The members decided not to
have a December meeting and
the January meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Lloyd
Penfound with the program in
the charge of Mrs. Leonard Ar-
chambault and Mrs. Lloyd
McClinchey. Lunch committee
is to be Mrs. Henry Hunking

The December meeting of the
United Church Women was
held on Wednesday of last
week in the form of a pot luck
dinner at the home of Mrs.
Robert Taylor in Clinton.
There were 25 members and
five visitors present. Everyone
enjoyed their variety meal.
The worship service was in-
troduced by the playing of a
Christmas record which led the
singing of the hymns "Joy to
the world", "Silent Night" and
"0 little town of Bethlehem"
and continued with the reading
and singing of the Christmas
story. Mrs. Mervyn Johnston
read a poem "Christmas is
more" followed by a prayer.
Mrs. Louis Taylor received
the offering and it was
'dedicated by Mrs. Wm. McAsh,
The story "Amberlie" from the
United Church "Observer" was
read by Mrs, Robert Stirling.
The president, Mrs. Ralph
Stephenson, then conducted the
business meeting, Minutes were
read by Mrs, Gordon Johnston
and the roll call was answered
by a donation to the Children's
Aid Society, Mrs. Mervyn John-
ston read several thank you
notes. The treasurer's report
was given by Mrs. Bob Web-
ster.
Mrs. John Ostrom gave an
account regarding allocations.
There were 61 calls made to
sick and shut-ins. Boxes will be
packed for sick and shut-ins on
December 17 at Mrs. Ida
McClinehey's, The Christmas
Concert with members from
Varna and Goshen United
Churches participating will be
held in the township hall on
December 20.

Funeral services were held
on Tuesday December 4 for
Henry W, (Harry) Watkins at
the Arthur Funeral Home with
Rev. Stanley MacDonald of
Londesboro in charge,
Born in Hullett Township, he
was the son of the late Joseph
Watkins and Rosetta Wright on
May 7, 1917. HT-passed away
in Clinton Public Hospital after
a couple of months of illness.
He had been very active in 4-H
program and entertained many
Junior Farmer groups at his)
farm home.
He was a member of Lon-
desboro United Church.
He is' survived by his wife,
the former Hazel Hoggart; two
daughters, Mrs. William (Bar-
bara) Holzworth, Palmerston
and Mrs. John (Shirley)
Mallett, Palmerston; one son'
Robert at home; one grand-
daughter; and one sister, Mrs.
Hazel Draper of Toronto.
Burial took place in Clinton
Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Jack Van Egmond, Norman
Wright, Stewart Farquar,
Wayne Kennedy, Elgin Pen-
found and Ross Lovett.
Flowerbearers were Carmen
