BY HUGH HODGES Midst the dressing room chatter, and the scramble for sweaters and equipment, these young citizens display a real sense of eagerness. Hockey is the foremost thought in their minds. As expected, they would all like to win so that league stan- dings are increased and their individual scoring totals fat- tened. Quite naturally disap- pointments do arise however, these young boys are deter- ,mined in their efforts, On Dec. 8, the first game of the afternoon saw the Canadians jump into a single goal lead on a good clean goal by Rick Ducharme. From that point on it was Leafs all the way as they soon took over the game and scored six unan- swered goals. At the London Raceway Wednesday night, the fifth race winner was Carry On Syl owned by Andrew Park of Mit- chell with Gord Pullman of Seaforth on the bike. The mile was in 2:13.1 and the pay off was $6.40. In the ninth race, Shadow Bars owned by Fred Fowler of Londesboro was fourth with Frank MacDonald of Clinton on the bike. At the London track Satur- day afternoon in the fourth race, Cleaver Larry owned by Wm, Laverty and Ron William- son both of Seaforth was out of the money with Ron on the bike. Third in seventh race was Scotts Boy owned by Edith Semis and driven by John Duckworth both of Goderich. when Mike Anstett,. it - well respected centre, injured his knee. In a .game last Friday night in Clinton the Mustangs easily handled the Lucan Iriah 7.6 with two goals coming from Randy Millar and singles coming from Brian Lane, Dave McClure, .Steve Cook Brian Kennedy and Bill Irwin. Clinton bombed Strathroy last Sunday night 12-2 without the services of the Lane Brothers. Randy McClinchey .got the Midgets split Clinton Midget "B"s travelled to Goderich Monday night and played their finest game ever. Doug Rlehl earned a shutout as the game was a scoreless tie. Gord (animal) Gilfillan received eighteen minutes in the penalty box and leads in that division with 32 minutes after two games. In the Londesboro Men's League, the Beavers are still on flop with 60 points, far ahead of the Otters with 42, the Foxes with 35 and the Wolves with 31. Cliff Saundercock swept all the honors with the high single of 295, the high triple of 717 and the high average of 230. During Intertown action last weekend in Clinton, Art Finlayson of the Clinton team bowled a fantastic_ 403 as the Clinton team took all five games from their Zurich. The Odds-N-Ends are in front this week in the Clinton Mixed League with 49 points, followed by the Dead Beats with 47, the Dumbells with 44, the Loney Rangers with 37, the Corner Pins with 35, the Cloud hat trick and Dave McClure and Paul Johnson scored a pair of goals each to keep the Mustangs three points behind league leading Belmont. Single efforts went to Phil Petrie, Steve Cook, Cal Fremlin, Randy Millar, and Mike An. stett. The Mustangs played last night in Lucan, but a score was not available at press time. The Clinton Club host Exeter this Sunday night and play in Tavistock next Thursday night, December 20. games Seaforth last Wednesday to play the Seaforth Midget "A" team. Doug Talbot had both the men's high single of 275 and the high triple of 746, while Joe Koene had the high average of 202. The Blue Moon have taken over the lead in the Crown YBC Teen League with a 64 point accumulation, followed by the Corixas with 60, Deb's Drunks with 56, the Torques with 51, the Starlost with 49, the Wipper Snappers and the Pinfall Killers with 47 and the Smiles and Chuckles with 46, Deb Johnston had both the ladies' high single of 268 and the high triple of 674. Alex Harrett had the men's high year. Each team has a victory. After that game, the Colt's next home is Friday (Dec. 21) when they face the league leading Milverton Four-Wheel Drives, The Colt's also travel to Harriston on Saturday night for a game that starts at 8:30 p.m. A bus will be going and seats will be available for in- terested fans.
