Achievement Day will be on December $ at Clinton for the local 4-H club members. A thank-you note was read from Mr. and Mrs, Harry Watkins and Mr. and Mrs. John Mallot for the wedding dinner served. It was decided to have a box for donations for the Children's Aid Society at the Family Night on November 30, Mrs. Arnold Craig Was appointed Director to finish out the year. Plans were made to cater to several banquets and dinners in the near future. Family Night was discussed and the in- vitation from the Horticultural Society was accepted, Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock presented a lovely clock to the hall, a donation from the Com- munity in memory of the late Mrs. Fred Toll. Mrs, Kenneth McDougall thanked everyone on behalf of her family and stated that Bibles and Hymn Books had been placed in Knox United Church, also in memory of her mother. The Hand Book Quiz was conducted by Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock, Mrs. Major Youngblut gave an interesting account of the mining industry in Northern Ontario and had samples of mineral found where her son, Keith Youngblut works. The report of the Area convention held recently at London was given by Mrs. Thomas Haggitt. Mrs, Eleanor Bradnock showed pictures of Banff and the Federated Women's In- stitute of Canada convention held this year in June. Lunch was served by Mrs. Sidney Lansing, Mrs. Alfred Fry, Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock. Prizes were won by Mrs, Thomas Lawlor for wedding anniversary nearest date, Mrs, Celia Taytor for birthday nearest and Mrs Leonard An, chambault for the lucky cup, The roil call was answered by naming a law for which to be thankful. SOCIAL ITEMS Robert Turner is a patient in University Hospital, London, where he underwent surgery last Thursday, Mr. and Mrs, Ed Davies at- tended the golden wedding an- niversary of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr, and Mrs. Norman Taylor at Belmont last Sunday. Mrs, Davies was bridesmaid for her sister 50 years ago. A large crowd attended the bazaar and tea in the Auburn Hall sponsored by the U,C.W. of Knox United Church last Saturday. Mrs, Andrew Kirkconnell was a patient last week in Clin- ton Public Hospital. Mrs. Thomas Johnston is a patient in University Hospital, London. Mrs. Orval McPhee arrived home last Sunday after being a patient in University Hospital for a couple of weeks. Mr. Wilfred Sanderson is a patient in Victoria Hospital, London. Winners at the progressive euchre parties last week were high lady, Mrs. Warner An- drews; low lady, Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock; high man, playing as man, Mrs. Myrtle Munro; low man, Maitland Allen; lucky chair prize Mrs. Duncan MacKay. Prizes donated by Mr, and Mrs. Ed Davies. Lunch was by Mr. and Mrs, Ted Mills. ACW The November meeting of the St. Mark's Anglican Church Women, Auburn held the mon- thly meeting at the home of a former member, Mrs. John McNichol, Blyth, with a good attendance. Rev, Fred Carson read the scripture lesson and Mrs, McNichol gave the Thought for Today. Get - well cards were signed and sent to three mein- bets, Mrs, Thomas Johnston, Mrs, Orval. McPhee and Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell, A letter was read from Hud- son, Ontario, thanking the members for the bale of warm clothing sent to them, An in- vitation to attend the Christ- mas meeting of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Society to be held at the home of Mrs. Duncan MacKay on December 11 was read. Mrs. Elmer Trommer, the president gave an interesting paper on the Ten Command- ments of Human Relations. The roll call Was answered by naming a jewel named in the Bible. The travelling apron received a penny for each letter in,"Lest we forget. SOCIAL ITEMS Mrs. Donald Haines and Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock were guest speakers at the Belgrave Women's Institute last Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hamilton entertained members of the for- mer bowling team in honour of Mr. and Mrs, Harry Arthur's silver wedding anniversary. Obituary WILLIAM ROY CANTELON William Roy Cantelon of Fulton Street in Clinton passed away in Clinton Public Hospital on November 22 after an illness of one year. He was 83. Mr. Cantelon was born in Goderich Township on October 29, 1890, a son of the late Albert and Martha Cantelon. He attended school in Goderich Townships and far- med there arid in Stariley moat of his life: On April 3,• 1919, he married the former 'Edna Laura Innes in Clinton. She survives him, The couple retired to Clinton in 1956, He was a member of Wesley Willis United Church for many years. Besides his wife, he is sur- vived by two sons, Raymond of R.R. 5 Clinton and George of R.R. 4, Seaforth and six grand- children. He was predeceased by four brothers, Ralph, Lorne, Edgar and Wilbur. Funeral services were held on November 24 from the Beat- tie Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. J.S. Oestreicher of- ficiating. Interment was in Clinton ‘gemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Glenn, Robert Glenn, Jack Gould, Jack Innes, Douglas Cantelon, and Francis Can- telon. Honorary pallbearers were David Kay, Fred Reid, and Stanley Jackson. Flower bearers were Gary, Wayne, Bill and Mark Can- telpn. WS.
