Dead heat for Teen Bowling League
The Clinton Mustangs
remained tied, for first place
with Belmont Sunsets after a 5.,
5 tie with Strathroy last Friday
night and a 6-4 win against
Exeter last Sunday afternoon.
In. the Strathroy game,
Randy .Millar scored a . goal
with 4:19 left in the game to
.pull off a come from behind tie,
The Mustang play didn't leave
much .to be desired, as they
came through with a very
sloppy game as they let
Strathroy score short-handed
and couldn't get their power
play rolling.
Gary Phillips played a very
strong game on the point,
holding down most of the
defensive load with Jim
Cameron leaving the team.
With this sort of play, it shows
how great the Clinton team is
to come out of a very bad game
with a tie.
Paul . Johnson led the
Mustangs scoring with two
Atom
League
In the first game of the Atom
house league last Saturday at
the Clinton Arena, the
Canadians shut out the Bruins
by a 3-0 score. Speedy Jim
Fleming scored all three
Canadians goals.
In the second game, the
Blues shut out the Leafs 2-0.
Blues goals were scored by
David Jewitt and Ray Brown.
Practice this week is at the
usual time on Friday, begin-
ning at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday afternoon at the
London Raceway in the fourth
race, Pebbles Girl, owned by
Geo, and Ron Feagan of
Goderich was • second with
Gerry Roebuck on the bike.
In the seventh race Shadow
bars, owned by Fred Fowler of
Londesboro was fourth with
Frank MacDonald of Clinton
on the bike.
In the ninth race, Miss Belle
Bars, owned by Fred Fowler
and driven by Frank
MacDonald._ was second.
goals, while Brian Lane and
Dave McClure got the others,
Frank Wall, Pete Varga, Barry
Pawson, Roland Icroall and
John Campbell scored for the
Falcons,
There were 22 penalties
called during the game, in-
cluding. fighting majors to Bill
Crawford and Don Marshall.
Last Sunday afternoon, the
Mustangs came up with a much
better game as they travelled to
Exeter and thumped the
Hawks 6-4.
Exeter opened the scoring at
31 seconds of the first period
and Dave McClure tied it up at
8:10 only to have Exeter go
ahead at 10;57.
Brian Kennedy made it 2,2
at 11:21 and Exeter again went
ahead 3-2 at 3:46 9f the second
period. Then Mustang Marvin
Two games in this division
got underway last Saturday
with some hangups just to
create a challenge for those
connected with these boys.

Combining Pee Wees and the
Bantams is a new venture this
year and it is hoped it will
provide the boys with more ice
time plus a more evenly balan-
ced level of competitiveness,
Practice sessions for all boys
will be held on Tuesday from 5
to 6 p.m., and in the near
future this may be extended,
On Saturday afternoon a short
practice will be followed by two

driven by Jerry Daford, got his
fourth win in the last five starts

debut in the local arena,
Tonight, Thursday, the `Stangs
travel . to Tavistock for their
first game against the Braves.

UCW meets
The General meeting of On-
tario St. Church U.C.W..was
held in the church parlour on
November 14.
The meeting opened with a
poem. "You are only you" by
Mrs. Ross Trewartha. A hymn
was sung and the scripture was
read by Mrs. Roy Wheeler. The
themeiof the meeting- was. "We
all need a lift". A skit was
given by Mrs. Wheeler and
Mrs. Trewartha. The devotion
closed with the Lord's Prayer.
The business of the meeting
was taken over by Mrs. Trewar-
tha. The minutes and
correspondence were given by
Mrs. Geo. Colclough. The
manse furniture auction sale
was quite successful and $50 is
'to be donated to Alma College
at St. Thomas. The flowers for
the church will be looked after
by the Morning Unit for the
month of December.
Boxes for the shut-ins will be
packed and delivered on
December 18. A bale was
packed and sent to 461 York St.
in London Ontario on Novem-
ber 7th.
The next General meeting
will be in January. The, after-
noon Unit will take devotions
and lunch. The evening unit
will take the program.'
Mrs. Harvey Johnson gave a
reading which was enjoyed by
all. The Christmas bazaar will
be held Saturday. Dec. 1st al
the church. • Mrs. Trewartha then closed
the meeting and lunch was ser-
ved by the Evening Unit. •
The Blue Moons arid Deb's
Drunks are dead heated for the
lead in the Crown Teen'
Bowling League. Each have 45
points and are followed by
Corixas with 41, Smiles and
Chuckles with 36, the Torques
and Star Lost with 34, the Pin-
fall Killers with 33 and the
Winner Snappers with 32. Deb
Johnston was the best women
bowler with the high single of
194 and the high triple of 526.
John Hart had the men's high
single of 277 and the high triple
of 688 went to Jim Switzer.
In the Crown Junior League,
there is still a very tight race
for the top spot, with the Pin
Spots holding down first this
week with 27 points, followed
closely by the Corner Pins with
26, the Strikeouts with 25, the
Alley Crackers and the Super
Strikers with 24 each, the
Aristocats, the Headpins and
the Tigers with 23 each, the
Spares with 20, the Alley Cats
with 18 and the Weeping
Willows and the Rolling Pins
with 16 each. Jane Symons had
the Molson's Crown Mixed
League with 32 points, followed
by the Dusters with 26, Ron's
Rogues with 23, the Dumb
Pokes with 22, the Hi-Flyers
with 19, Dino's Dinglings with
18, the Sideslips with 16, and
Betty's Bums with .12. Gerry
Harris had a fantastic night,
with the ladies' high single of
301, the high triple of 843 and
the high average of 232. Ward
Hodgins also rolled some good
games, as he had the men's
high single of 294 and the high
triple of 694. Bruce Collins had
the high average of 231.
In the Ladies Afternoon
League, the Pole Cats have a
lead of eight points over the
Alley Cats who have collected
'30. Next come the Tom Cats
with 19 and the Bob Cats with
11. Gerry Harris again swept
all honors with the high single
of 280 and the high triple of
684.
The Slow Pokes aren't living
up to their name in the Clin-
ton-Blyth Ladies League as
they lead the way with 35
points, followed closelyby the
Six Pin Pals with 34, the
Teetotalers with 32, the Happy
Hookers with 31, the Busty
Beauties and the Alley Cats
with 29, and the Boo-Boos and
the Swinging Mamas with 25
each. Judy Wilson had both the
high single of 304 and the high
triple of 709, while Mary Davey
Tony's Sharks with 23, Dave's
Darters with 21, John's Joyfish
with 20 and Mel's Minnows
with 16. Winnie Van DenDool
had the ladies' high single of
316 and the high triple of 714.
In the Bayfield Bowling
League, the Allstars lead the
way with 24 points, followed by
the Dillies with 21, the Bom-
bers with 20 and the Mircles
with 15. Sandra Talbot had
both the ladies' high single of
283 and the high triple of 686.
Madelon Mclllwain had the
high average of 214. Bill Talbot
had both the men's high single
of 229 and the high triple of
652. Joe Koene had the high
average of 197.
The Knock Outs lead the
Londesboro Ladies League by a
large margin with 49 points,
followed by the Head Hunters
with 32, the Hopefuls with 30
and the Dead Beats with 29.
Romona Jamieson swept all
the honors with the high single
of 264 and the high triple of
609.
In the Londesboro Men's
League, The Beavers are hard
at work and lead the way with
45 points, followed by the Ot-
ters with 31, the Foxes with 27
and the Wolves with 23. Jack
Lee had the high single of an
excellent 321, Gord Shobbrook
had the high triple of 710 and
Cliff Saundercock had the high
average of 227.
Brownies,
On Tuesday November 13th,
the Clinton Brownies met at
the Clinton Public School. We
played games and then divided
up into our own separate work
corners to work on different
projects.
In one group, a lady helped
with the knitting. We then had
our closing prayer and went to
our homes looking forward to
our meeting next Tuesday af-
ternoon at Brownies.

Clinton Colts have dropped the
last two games by decialve
margins.
Last Friday night. in
Harriston,. they were. bombed
11-6 by a fast,altating club while
on Sunday night in Clinton,
they were shelled 613 by Kurtz-
vide, In both games, the Colts
were outhustied and outplayed
by their opponents. The Colt's
next game is Friday night here
when they play host to the
tough Listowel Jets. Game time
is 8:30.
At Harriston, the Colts
trailed 5-4 after the first period
but in the second Harriston
scared five unanswered goals.
Colt marksmen , were Butch
Fleet with two goals while solo
efforts went to Archie Pickett,
Brian McAsh, Scott Parks, and
Derwin Carter. Clinton's eap-

Bantams was in Goderich, The
score at the end of the first
period was 0-0. Goderich went
ahead on goals by Helesic from
Lambert and Kirkconnell from
Crew.
A Clinton goal was scored by
Heard from Roy.
In the third period, Clinton
scored two goals, one by Jones
unassisted and one by Heard
from Thompson. The score at
the end of the game was Clin-
ton 3 'Goderich 2. w;,„ The:second exhibition game
was played in Wingham. In the
first period Clinton went ahead
3-1. Goals were scored by
Walters from Campbell, Heard
from Thompson and Thompson
from Heard and Jones.
Wingham's goal was scored by•
Kimlan from Rae.
In the second period two
goals were scored by Clinton.
One by A. Taylor from Trewar-
tha and Heard. The second
Bantams undefeated
goal was scored by Wise
unassisted.
Two third period goals were
scored for Wingham by Jones
and McGregor. The score was
Clinton 5 - Wingham 4.
The third exhibition game
was played in Zurich. Four
goals were scored by Heard,
two by A. Taylor with singles
going to Walters, Trewartha,
Jones and Thompson.
Thompson had three assists,
two by Heard and others going
to Galachiuk, Walters, Roy,

The score at the end of the
game was Clinton 10 - Zurich 2.
The first league game was
played in Clinton against Hen-
sail. Devok and Bird shared a
shutout. After a scoreless first
period Merner scored from
Walters and Roy.

Recreationally speaking

Be sure to look over the arena schedule on this page to
find out what's going on in town. This winter should be an
exciting and active one. We have a top notch Junior "D"
team in'Clinton this year which should provide many, fine
hockey games for you to come and see.
The Clinton Colts, Intermediate "C", look like they have
a winner and our Minor Hockey system is in full swing with
action -six nights of the week. If you like figtii•e

young skaters.
Wednesday afternoons, we're open for adults and
preschoolers so if you're at home, come on down to the arena
for some exercise.
Monday nights we have an industrial league going which
hi-lites good fun and enjoyable watching. If you have a
husband, boyfriend, brother or friend of the family playing,
get down here and have a look, you may be surprised.
Thursday nights is for our girls' hockey team. These
games are great watching and get quite exciting, This is
another team that might just surprise you if you've never
seen them before.
We've got public skating on Sundays that's good fun for
the kids, so make sure your kids are out getting some exer-
cise or maybe even learning to skate,
