Mrs. Carrie Thompson, formerly of

MRS. GEORGE
C. THOMPSON
Mrs. George C. Thompson of
Huronview and formerly of
Clinton, passed away at
Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital in Goderich on Oc-
tober 6, 1973. She was 88.
Mrs, Thompson was born the
former Carrie Hutton in
Bismarck North Dakota on
January 18, 1885, the daughter
of the late John and Caroline
Hutton,
On October 9, 1912 she
married George Thompson in
Londesboro. He predeceased
her in 1948, The couple lived in'
Londesboro and later in Clin-
ton. She was a member of St.
Andrew's Presbyterian Church
in Clinton.
Mrs. Thompson is survived
by one daughter Mrs. Garnet
(Ethel) Battin of Tillsonburg
and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
from the Beattie Funeral Home
on October 9 with Rev. G.L.
Royal in charge. Interment was
in Clinton Cemetery,
Pallbearers were Ivan Car-
ter, Glen Battin, Russell Jervis
and Len Arnston,
G. MORLEY
(PETE) COUNTER
G. Morley (Pete) Counter, a
well-known Clinton and area
resident died in Clinton Public
Hospital on September 22 after
an illness of one year. He was
81.
Mr, Counter was born in
Seaforth on November 1, 1891,
a son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
W.R. Counter. He attended
public school in Seaforth and
the Clinton High School. He
enlisted in the army in 1915
where he Was a Quarter Master
Sergeant With the 161st Bat,
tation, On Decerriber 28, 1920
he married the former Mabel
Swarts in Winghern. She stir-
vines him.
Mr. Counter was well.known
to area residents both as the
Postmaster from 1934 to 1957
and as an active conunniiity

Brussels on August 25, 1973
when Linda Mae Elliott
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Elliott, RR 2, Blyth, became
the bride of Kenneth William
McVittie, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Roy McVittie of Blyth. Rev.
Fred Carson officiated at the
double .ring ceremony.
The -bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose an A-line
gown of white chiffon, with Vic-
torian neckline and sheer
bishop sleeves. The bodice and
neckline were accented with
guipure lace as was her elbow-
length veil and Juliet head-
piece. She carried a cascade of
yellow sweetheart roses, shasta
daisies and baby's breath. ,
The maid of honour was
Miss Evelyn Elliott, cousin of
the bride. The bride was also
attended by Mrs. Bonnie Witte,
sister of the groom and Mrs.
Carol Turnbull, cousin of the
bride. They wore identical
yellow gowns. The scooped
necklines were accented with
white collars edged with lace as
Were the puffed sleeves. Ties
crossed at the bodice and hung
down the back to accent the
dress. Their ensemble was com-
pleted by white wide brimmed
service man. Mr. Counter
worked at the former Wearwell
Hosiery from 1927 until 1933 .
when he became Postmaster.
He was a member of St, Paul's
Anglican Church where he was
on the board of management
from 1927 until 1957 and he
also served as Warden for five
years. Mr. Counter was on the
Clinton Hospital Board from
1940 until 1957 and he was
also a life member of Clinton
Branch 140 of the Canadian
Legion where he held the post
of president from 1931 until
1932. He was also Navy League
Chairman and he was on the
Red Cross Executive from 1940
to 1945.
Besides his wife, Mr. Counter
is survived by one son William
of Clinton; one grandson
David; and one brother Nor-
man of Clinton,
Funeral services were held
from' St, Paul's Anglican
Church in Clinton on Septem-
ber „25, 1973 with Rev, J.
Stanley Sharpies and Arch-
bishop A, H. O'Neil in charge.
Burial was in Clinton
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dick Dixon,
K.W. Colquhoun and Harold
McPherson all of Clinton, John
Hartley of Exeter, Art Bell of
Kincardine and Gordon Sut.

brother-in-law, acted as best
man while Bob Nolbet and
Doug McVittie ushered the
guegts. They wore beige' jackets
with dark, brown lapels and
brown slacks, and ruffled
yellow shirts with brown bow
ties. Traditional wedding music
was played by Mrs. Shawn
Stephenson, as well as "We've
Only Just Begun" and "Love
Theme from Romeo i and
Julihee Juliet". T
bride's mother received
guests wearing a floral gown
with white accessories an,d a
corsage of red sweetheart roses.
The groom's mother assisted
wearing a floral gown w ith
white accessories and a corsalge
of pink sweetheart roses.
That evening a reception was
held at the Brussels Legion
Hall with music provided iby
Ken Scott's Orchestra. Fier
travelling, the bride chose a
blue and white patterned dress
accented with ties crossing at
the bodice and white, collar
edged With lace. She carrie.d
one long stemmed red rose.
Following their trip t o
Eastern Ontario the couple will
reside in London.
Londesboro United Church
was beautifully decorated with
ferns, candles ;and gladioli for
the August 24 anarriage of Bar-
barn Anne Lee, .daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, Jack Lee of RR I,
Londesboro and James Stewart
Mustard, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Mustard of Brucefield.
Rev, Stanley McDonald of-
ficiated at the double ring
ceremony. Mrs. Harry Lear was
the organist and ticcompanied
by Helen and Glenyce Ander-
son who sang as a duet "Song
of Joy" and "We've? Only Just
Begun."
Given in marriage by her
parents, the bride wore a gown
fashioned of white polyester
crepe knit with sequined lace. A
tiara of white daisies, blue
Frenched carnations,
stephanotis and white, baby's
breath adorned her head and
she carried an arm bou quet of
blue carnations, white (daisies,
pink and white baby's breath
and a blue ribbon.

of the bride and Catherine
Mustard 'of Brucefield; sitter of
the groom was the attendant,
They were dressed identically
in gown of baby blue polyester
crepe knit with lace trim. The

baby's brea Ill and she wore a
