Mrs. Dave Schenck of
Seaforth showed slides of
Holland, Denmark and Russia
and told of her experiences in
Russia while attending the In-
ternational Tuberculosis Con-
ference. Mrs. Campbell Eyre
who was in charge of the
program introduced Mrs.
Schenck and Mrs. C. Pullman
thanked her for a very in-
teresting and informative talk.
The roll call was name a city
in Russia. Mrs. R. Kinsman
contributed a piano number
and. Mrs, C. Eyre, conducted a
contest.
The Huron County Rally to
be held October 1st was
discussed and committees
arranged, since Kippen will act
as hostess for the day. Members
are invited to the Dashwood
Institute meeting on October
2nd. A donation of 25 was
made to the Huronview Van
Fund.
Mrs. Grant MacLean gave
the family and consumer affairs
report and Mrs. R. Bell the
education report. Mrs. Stewart
Pepper was hostess and Mrs,
Charles Eyre co-hostess Mrs.
Al Hoggarth and her group ser-
ved lunch. Mrs. M. Connolly,
the president was in charge of
the business. Mrs. I. Drum-
mond gave courtesy remarks,

The regular meeting of Am-
ber Rebekah Lodge was _held
Wednesday evening in the
Lodge rooms with N.G. Mrs,
Irene Blackwell presiding and
being assisted by V.G. Mrs.
Aldeen Volland. P.N.G. Mrs.
Olga Chipchase was asked to
retire with D.D.P. Mrs. Mary
Gregg of Huron District No. 23,
on return she was introduced
and welcomed. N.G. Mrs.
Blackwell presented her with a
corsage then she was seated.
A number of cards were sent
to sick and shut-in members,
and a plant was sent to the
Funeral Home for Maude lied-
den, a past member. Two
names' were presented as can-
didates for membership. This
being the night of Installation
of Officers of the Lodge for
1973-74, the D,D.P. and In-
stalling staff retired, and Mrs.
Gary Lobb of Clinton read the
Commission, after which the
Dist. Mar. entered the room an-
nouncing the D.D.P. and staff
and reentered to install of-
ficers. Mrs. Mary Seuter of
Clinton sang two lovely solos
accompanied by Mrs. Ethel
McPherson of Clinton on the
piano.

UNITED NATION'S TRIP
Members and friends of the
I.0.0,F. and Rebekah Lodges
were pleasantly entertained in
the Lodge Hall Thursday
evening.
Noble Grand Alex McBeath
and Ernie Chipchase in-
troduced the speaker Tony
Kyle who won the trip to the
United Nations in New York,
and spoke on his trip and the
entertainment and fellowship
of many friends.
Tony also described many
pictures and folders he ac-
cumulated on his trip and
thanked the Lodges for the op-
portunity.
Progressive Euchre was
played with the following prim
winners; ladies high, Mrs.
Percy Campbell; gents high,
Ross Richardson; lone hands,
Harry Gerrie;. ladies con-
solation, Mrs. Ross Richard-
son; men's consolation, Jim
McEwan.
UNIT IV
Mrs. R. Erratt chaired Unit
IV's meeting in Hensall United
Church Thursday afternoon.
Miss Greta Lammie accom-
panied at the piano for the
hymns and special music, The
devotional was given by Miss
Amy Lammie when she read
the 100th psalm and a poem
entitled "Earth's Common
things". The devotional con-
cluded with the general
Thanksgiving hymn.
Mrs. W. Cole a
Thanksgiving poem "One
nation under God" and presen-
ted the voice of Dr. Harold
Loman in two solos on tape.
Mrs, E. Luther gave the study
from the 8th chapter of
Deuteronomy, and also led in
the singing of a song, "Lord I
thank thee for the joy of
living."
The offering was taken by
Mrs. G. Dowson and
arrangements were made for
helping at Queensway and for
flowers in the Church for Oc-
tober.

The Hensall 4H Gourmet
Globe-Trotters" held their first
meeting last Tuesday evening
at the home of Mrs. William
Fuss. Election of officers was
held and went as follows:
president and press reporter,
Agnes VanEsbroeck; secretary,
Betty Beer; treasurer, Mrs.
Fuss.
The theme of this club is "A
world of food in Canada'', and
the topic discussion was early
Canadian foods of the Indians
and early settlers. Everyone
helped to make Blueberry
Buckle which was much en-
joyed. Eighteen girls are
enrolled in this club. The next
meeting will be held at Mrs,
Fuss's house on Tuesday at 7
p.m. sharp.
OBITUARY
Daniel Wayne Smith of Hen-
sail passed away suddenly on
October 7, 1973 in his 18th
year.
He was the beloved son of
Wayne and Marlene Smith of
Hensall, and brother of
Douglas, and Mrs. Frank
(Deborah) Ducharme, Hensall;
grandson of Mrs, Pearl Petzke,
Hensall and Mr. and Mrs.
Everett Smith of Egmondville.
The body rested at the Bon-
thron Funeral Chapel in Hen-
sall where funeral service took
place on Wednesday October
10, 1973 at 2 p.m. with Rev.
Donald Beck officiating. Inter-
ment Hensall Union Cemetery.
Jessie McTaggart, and other
cousins in and around Pilot
Mound and Snowflake,
Manitoba.
Charles Mickle„ Hamilton,
spent Thanksgiving weekend
with his mother Mrs. Laird
Mickle and along with his
mother and aunt Mrs. Florence

with his sister and brother-in-

munity attended the Women's
Institute Huron County Rally
at Centralia Agricultural
College Monday of last week.

moved to their new home in

UNITED CHURCH
Thanksgiving service and
World Wide Communion was
held in Hensall United Church
Sunday morning, Rev. Don
Beck preached on the sermon
topic "Look what God Can do".
The choir sang an anthem un-
der the direction of Mrs.
Turkheim. Mr. and Mrs.
William Brown and Mr. and
Mrs. Hans Gerstenkorn were
welcomed into full membership
in the Hensel! congregation.
The flowers in the Church
were placed in memory of Mrs.
Maude Hedden and Charles
Robinson. Next Sunday will be
childrens day service with Cap-
tain Smith and his puppet
"Salty," and both the
children's and youth choir are
scheduled,
OBITUARY
Mrs. John McMurtrie, the
former Bertie Gibson of Hen-
sail, passed away suddenly at
her residence on Friday Oc-
tober 5, 1973 in her 95th year.
She was the beloved .wife of
the late John McMurtrie. Sur,.

rested at the Bonthron Funeral
Chapel in Hensall when
funeral service took place on
Monday October 8, 1973 with
