In Third Division League
play at the weekend, Clinton
travelled to London and
defeated the London Olym-
pians by a 5-3 score.
Clinton, playing against a
team bolstered by six regular
first Division players, went into
this game with a determination
to win that has been lacking in
the last few games. This
showed in their play from the
starting whistle when they kept
up a relentless pressure on the
Olympians' goal,
Derwin Carter in goal for
Clinton was rarely troubled by
the Olympian forwards and
foiled the two or three shots
they did manage to get past a
rugged Clinton defence.
Clinton's efforts were even-
tually rewarded when Bill Can-
telon sent an inch perfect pass
from the right wing to Charlie

Lipp lying unmarked in the
Olympians' goal mouth, Lipp
made no mistake when he
cracked the ball into the back
of the net.
The score at half-time was 1-
0 for Clinton,
Clinton resumed play slowly
in the second half, allowing
Olympians to tie the score and
shortly afterwards to go one
goal ahead.
Clinton then came alive with
veterans Lipp and Lyon urging
them on and again Lipp found
the target with another
blistering shot. Minutes later
Brian Jewitt put Clinton ahead
with a lovely goal. Jewitt then
added another in a goal mouth
scramble,
Olympians fought back and
Clinton's defence was subjected
to great pressure. In trying to
prevent a corner, the ball was
cleared across the front Cline
ton's goal where a lone Ol yn
plan forward gathered it and
shot it well out of Carter
reach. This put the score at 4-3
for Clinton.
The arrival, at this point, of
the Fire Dept. to attend to .a
grass fire only 50 yards away,
did not put the fire out from
under the Clinton forwards!!
Duddy, Lipp and McLachlan
all had neat misses, Bill Can-
telon saw a beautiful shot hit
the Olympian's goalpost and
the resulting rebound went
narrowly over the bar Jewitt,
looking for his hat-trick, finally
took a lovely pass from Lipp to
score and make the final result
