Tammy is a beautiful, bright-
eyed 10 year old youngster.
Tammy has courage and
determination and must prove
it each and every day of her life
because Tammy has
rheumatoid arthritis.
While there is no complete
data on the total number of
children who are victims of this
devastating disease, an alar-
ming number of children
develop the rheumatoid form of
arthritis before their seventh
birthday,
Station CKNX in Wingham,
Ontario will host a Telethon to
raise funds for arthritis
research on Thursday, October
4. Scores of entertainers from
surrounding localities will join
Tammy in asking for your sup-
port. The Telethon will run
from 9 p.m. until the early
hours of Friday morning. The
team of volunteers who
organized the Telethon will be
setting up a network of
telephones so that pledges may
be conveniently processed. The
Canadian Arthritis and
Rheumatism Society research
program is making it possible
to bring the most advanced
knowledge to the treatment of
arthritis patients in Canada.
Tammy needs your support
now. You cannot, you must not
fail her cause. Support The

The annual festival 9f the
Harvest Thanksgiving was held
in St. James Church on Sunday
last with a good attendance.
The Rector, the Rev. George
Youmatoff, was in charge,
The church, was beautifully
decorated with seasonal
flowers and fruits and colorful,
vegetables.
Flowers on the altar were a
memorial to Mrs, Mabel Ken-
nedy by her family. A lovely
arrangement in front of the
pulpit was in loving memory of
Mr. Morley Counter by his wife
and family.
A apecial feature of this ser-
vice was the Perambulation
around the church building
led by the Rector and choir
and followed by the whole
congregation, all singing
"Praise, oh Praise our God and
King". Halting at the four
points of the campass, the Rec-
tor gave special prayers asking
for "God's Blessing on the
lands of our parishioners which
lie about us" and to give
thanks for His many blessings.
Mr. Yournatars text was "I
am the Bread of Life", "I
scrapped my prepared sermon
on the lavish blessings
bestowed on this country, after
I had seen the CBC broadcast
showing the Cambodian boys'
army in camouflaged battle
dress and carrying grenades
and lethal rifles, boys conscrip-
ted from the age of eight to
bring their country's forces up
to 300,000".
In dramatic fashion, Mr.
Youmatoff, called on a typical
real Canadian boy of eight to
stand up in church in the per-
son of Charles Wise and con-
trasted his way of life with the
desperate lot of the Cambodian
boys.
"What is lacking in many
places is a belief in the real
value of human life, a precious
thing. If we believe in Jesus
The demonstration of
English Trifle, a typical
English dessert, was made by
Mrs. Yeo, assisted by Diana
Brand.
Later, the three clubs
gathered together and sampled
each others recipes of English
tradition. These dishes con-
sisted of English Trifle, apple
dumplings and Finnan Middle
with egg sauce, all of which
were enjoyed by all.
Teri Va nD (»igen
Christ under no circumstances
would we subject children to
that way of life,
"If we stand tall and strong
with love in our hearts no
nation will attack us. We pray
that the same thing as happend
to Cambodia doesn't happen to
us. We must share our plenty
and accept Jesus Christ as the
true bread of life." concluded
Mr, Youmatoff.
The junior choir under the
rector's direction sang "In the
Garden" as an anthem. Mrs,
Joseph Story was at the organ.
