Mrs. George Bell has recently
returned from a holiday in
Manitoba, She visited with her
aunt, Mrs. Myrtle Tichborne
and cousin Clarence in
Treherne and also cousins, Mr.
and Mrs, Danny Heide and
family in Winnipeg. Mrs. Bell
was accompanied on her trip by
Mrs. Russel. Phillips of
Lucknow and Mrs. Art Bell of
Goderich Township, who spent
their time at Camp Shilo,
Manitoba.
Mr. and Mrs. B.N. Cooper of
Guelph were weekend guests of
Mr, and Mrs. Bric Earl,
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Smith,
Ruth and Cara Lynne Candy of
Paris and Mrs. W. Arthur of
Lambeth, were with Mrs. L.B,
Smith on Sunday. Mrs, Smith's
sister, Mrs, George Reid of
Varna had been with her from
Tues, to Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Parker
and Jennifer, London were
Wednesday visitors with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Parker.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred LeBeau
and Mr. and Mrs. Mac LeBeau
spent Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Ambrose Gamble in
Ripley.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Desjardins
and Paula, Goderich, were with
her parents Mr. and Mrs. John
Wild and family RR 3, Bayfield
for the weekend.
Mrs. L,W. Scotchmer spent
two weeks with her son and
family Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Scotchmer, Robert and Lori
and new granddaughter
Carolyn Jane in Chatham, and
also a few days at the home of
her son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pounder
and family in Lambeth.

Miss Norma Garrett and Mr.

tor of Trinity Church, Bayfield,
is sending out an appeal to
anyone who may have
photographs or paintings of
Past Rectors of the Parish. He

so they may be copied for sub-
sequent framing and Ntriging in
the Parish Hall as part of the
125th Anniversary of the
Church next year.
Mr. and Mrs, Bob Cluff, Rob
and Tara, London, were in the
Village for the weekend.

and Nancy Scotchmer of
hatham on the birth of their
daughter, Carolyn Jane on
Sept. 21 in Chatham,
Mr. and Mrs. John Lindsay
returned last week from a
holiday trip to the West, They
motored to Gull Lake, Sask. via
Northern Ontario and visited a
cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Swit-
zer in Assinaboia. Mr. and Mrs.
Lindsay returned home
through the United States by
way of Montana and North
Dakota.
- Other travellers who retur-
ned to their homes in the
Village last week after a
vacation were Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Scotchmer and Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Fisher, who
toured the Maritime Provinces.
They went east through the
United States into New Brun-
swick and took the ferry to
Newfoundland. Also went
along the Cabot Trail and to
Prince Edward Island where
they visited former Bayfield
residents, Mr. and Mrs. Ian
McRae. On their tour they stop-
ped in Hayfield, Nova Scotia
and Bayfield, New Brunswick.
Also returning home on Sun-
day from a vacation in the
Canadian West were Mr. and
Mrs. R.J. Larson. The Larsons
flew to Vancouver, B.C. where
they visited two weeks with his
sisters, They then motored to
Creston, to visit a nephew and
from there they went to
Calgary, Alberta and on to
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; to
Naicam to visit Mr. Larson's
oldest sister, Mrs. Knutsen and
several members of the Parker
family. They then motored to
Prince Albert where they spent
some time with Wilson Parker
and Parker relatives in Melfort.
Mr. and Mrs. Larson flew home
from Saskatoon to Toronto
where they were met by their
son-in-law and daughter, Cpl.
and Mrs. Stan Smith of Borden

who drove them to Bayfield on
Sunday and remained to visit
them for the day.
Mrs, Jim Butcher and Mat-
thew of Platteville, spent a few
days with her parents, Mr. and
Mre. John Lindsay. Mr, But-
cher joined them for the
weekend following his return
from a moose hunting trip to
Geraldton, The party of hun-
ters of which Jim was a mem-
ber were fortunate enough to
bag two moose and a black
bear.
Sincere sympathy is extended
to the family of Elgin Porter of
Varna, who died suddenly on
Sunday as the result of a motor
accident
Two busloads, carrying 80
people from the London and
Middlesex County Historical
Society, toured the Village on
Saturday last. Mrs. LeRoy Poth
and Mrs. A.S. Morton, mem-
bers of the local society, poin-
ted out historical sites and
buildings as they drove along
the route followed by the
Walkabout held earlier in
August, A picnic lunch and
social hour held in Clan Gregor
Square followed the tour.
A large group of friends from
Farmington, Mich., Detroit,
Michigan, Windsor, London
and Bayfield, gathered at the
Village home of Mr. and Mrs.
Norman F. Cooper of Mount
Clemens, Mich., on Saturday
for a surprise oyster evening.
The occasion being to honour
Mr. Cooper on his birthday.
4111 CLUB
The first meeting of Clinton
II and 4-H club was held on
Monday, September 24, at the
home of Lori Saundercock. The
meeting was opened with the 4-
H Pledge.
We then held the election of
officers, results are as follows:
president, Patsy Proctor; vice-
president, Brenda Ball;
secretary, Sheila Dalgliesh;
treasurer, Brenda Butler;
telephone girls, Heather Hart,
Jackie Zwaan; press reporters,
Jo-Anne Collins, Helen Hart-
man,
There were 17 girls present at
the meeting. We decided to call
ourselves the "Sauey
Saucepans." We discussed the
early American settlers.
Mrs. Lexie Murch as well as
Mrs. Jane Postma and Mrs.
Viola Dalgliesh demonstrated
blueberry buckle. Sheila
Dalgliesh and Mrs, Murch then
demonstrated the lemon sauce.
The blueberry buckle and
lemon sauce was enjoyed by
most,

HOLMIESVILLE 11 4—H
The third meeting of
Holmesville II was held at
Helmesville Public School on
October 1. The meeting was
led by Brenda Wise by the
saying of the pledge. We
decided not to have a meeting
on Monday, Oct, 8. Mary
Brand read the minutes of the
last meeting. Achievement Day
is on Dee. 1973.
The demonstration was done
by Mary Brand and Patricia
They made apple dumplings.

Bill Stewart of Ooderielt and
Allan Turner of Stratford had
near perfect scores of 24 out of
20 at the weekly skeet shoot at
the Vanastra Gun Club last
Saturday, Three people, Jim
Cocker, of Stratford, John
Land of Bayfield and John An-
derson of Kippen were tied
with 23 hits each, and Glenn
Mogk of Bornholm, and 'Mery
Batkin of Clinton were tied
with 21 hits each.
