Mrs. Earl Rowe chaired the program and gave the devotional, the theme of which was "Wisdom". Hymns were sung with Mrs. Sherritt accompanying. Mrs. R, Errat gave the scripture reading from Corinthians. Mrs. Pearl Shaddick gave meditative thoughts on the theme and led in prayer. Mrs. Sherritt played a piano solo, and Mrs. Eric Luther sang "Amazing Grace" with Mrs. L. Mickle accompanying. Mrs. Mickle led a sing-song of favourite Hymns. Mrs. Rowe pronounced the benediction. During the business session plans were laid for the general meeting on October 1, and the Thankoffering meeting October 4, Mrs. Chipchase and Mrs. Shaddick took up the offering which was dedicated by Mrs. McAllister, CHISELHURST U.C.W. The September meeting of Chiselhurst U.C.W. was held Tuesday evening at the church. President Mrs. Alvin Cole • opened the meeting with a poem "Stepping Stones". It was decided to hold the bazaar on October 31, Mrs. Rosa Harris read an ad- dress to Mrs. Ross Riley making her a life member and Mrs. Jack Brintneli presented her with a pin. Mrs. McFalls sang a solo "Take time to be Holy", accompanied by Mrs. Alf Ross on the piano. The president closed the meeting with the benediction, after which a social hour was en- joyed by all. OBITUARY A long time resident of Hen- sell, Thomas Kyle Sr„ passed away in South Huron Hospital on Tuesday, September 5, 1973 in his 95th year. He had been a resident of the' Bluewater Rest Home in Zurich for the past three years, Born in Hay Township ,on May 31, 1879, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kyle. After farming some years in Hay Township they retired to Hensel). He was Town Con- stable in Hensall for a number of years, Mr. and Mrs. Kyle were married November 6, 1903, Surviving besides his wife, the former Nancy Kipfer, are three sans, Roy, of Timmitis, Dave of Hensall, Russell, St. Catharines; two daughers, Mrs. Arnold (Isabel) Merrier, Zurich; Mrs. Clare (Dorothy) Tuckey of London; 15 grand. children and 22 great- grandchildren. Two sons Byron and Tom predeceased him, Mr. Kyle rested at the DOA. thron Puttered Chapel in Hen• sail where a private funeral service was held on September 7, 1973, with Rev. Donald 13e0c officiating. Interment was in Exeter Cemetery. Mrs. Edith Barnes, the for. mer Edith Stoneman, passed away at Surtnyside Rest Home in Kitchener on September 10, 1973 in her 91st year. Surviving are nieces and nephews in this area. (photo by Rob Kellestine) Hensall U.C.W.'s resume fall meetings Bonthron Funeral Chapel in Hensall where funeral services were held on September 12 with Rev. Donald Beck of- ficiating. Interment was in Staffa Cemetery. UNIT II U.C.W. Unit II of Hensall United Church held their September meeting Monday evening at the Church. Belva Fuss chaired the meeting and opened with a poem entitled "Autumn". Sadie Hoy took charge of the devotional, talking and living our religion, showing faith and sharing 'our knowledge of the savior. The roll call was answered with 14 members with "Did you know?" Unit II is responsible to place flowers in the Church for the month of September. The General meeting will be October 1. The next scheduled meeting for Unit II will be on the third Monday of October, instead of the second Monday as is the usual custom, Everyone read clippings on India for the study. Hostesses were Pat Ven- ner and Ella Drysdale. LEGION LADIES The Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary met in the Legion Hall Tuesday evening with president Mrs. Mildred Chalmers in the chair. Mrs. Chalmers. installed Mrs. Margaret MacDonald as a new member and welcomed her to the Auxiliary, It was decided to have a money doll draw again for Christmas. Mrs. Iva Reid gave a report of the sports committee, and in- formed members of a bowling tournament to be held in Wingham on October 3, The guessing prize was won by An- nie Horton and the mystery prize by Donna Allan, UNITED CHURCH SERVICE Mr, Harry Horton was the soloist for the service on Sun- day morning in Hensall United Church, The sermon entitled "Remember the Sabbath", was conducted by Rev. Don Beck, This service concludes the com- bined services with the two congregations. Services next Sunday will be held in both Churches, PERSONALS Mr, Cornelieus Roobal who has spent the past three weeks visiting with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobal, returned to his home in Oud-Beyerland, Holland, Tuesday of last week.
