The Ladies Guild of Trinity
Anglican Church held their ad-
vance meeting at the home of
Mrs, L.W. Scotchmer, Wed-
nesday afternoon September 5.
The president, Mrs. Vina
Parker, read a Bible lesson and
all repeated the Lord's Prayer
in unison, Ten members were
present. The secretary, Mrs.
L,W. • Scotehmer, read her
report of the last meeting in
June, which was adopted, The
adopted child, Nazira Sunder
of Pakistan, will celebrate her
11th birthday on November 10
and it was decided to send her
a card and a gift if permitted,
Mrs. Lorna Merner gave,her
treasurer's report and moved
all outstanding bills be paid.
Reports were, given by the card
secretary and some of the
visiting committee. The
Thanksgiving Service in Trinity
Church will be held Sunday
September 30 and the Guild
passed a tnotion to give money
to the Altar Guild for the pur-
chase of candles for the church. 'Arrangements were finalized
to serve meals to ap-
proximately 30 members of the
Executive Council of the
A.C.W. at Huron Church
Camp, Tuesday and Wed-
nesday.
Mrs, Florence Brown invited
the members to her home for
the October 9th meeting and
the meeting closed with the
benediction.
SENIOR CITIZENS
The September meeting of
the Senior Citizens was held
Friday evening September 7, in
the Municipal Building with 22
members present. Presided over
by president Clair Merner, the
meeting opened with the
National Anthem and the
Lord's Prayer in unison. The
secretary was absent so no
minutes of the previous
meeting were read.
Questions were asked about
the Senior Citizens' Housing
Project and the president
reported he had spoken to the
Reeve and found he had con-
tacted Toronto who were sen-
ding up a man to look over
some land he knew might be
available. No one present

posedly situated in the village.
The president also' reported
he had turned in an estimate to
New Horizons Project,
following a meeting he had
tailed, on what was decided
would be required, The main
floor and kitchen of the old
town hall are available.
It was moved and passed
that Carrie Heard be given
money to carry on her work
sending cards, flowers and fruit
when necessary. Dorothy Mer-
ner moved a vote of thanks for
what she had done and for
looking after euchre cards and
prizes. Happy September birth-
day wishes were sung to Mrs.
Duggan.
Future meetings will begin at
7:30 p.m,, rather than 8 as
previously. Euchre f011owed
with winners being: Mrs. Freda
Scotchmer, Mrs. Plorence
Brown, Ken Lynn and Lloyd
Makin:3. The usual lovely lunch
was enjoyed and all agreed that
due to the high cost of living
that -each person bring only
enough lunch for herself or her-
self and husband.
RIDES DAMAGED
Members of the Bayfield
Lions Club reported that they
had purchased two additional
kiddies' rides, and while
situated in the , fairgrounds
following the Old Time Coun-
try Fair, Saturday September 1,
vandals had done considerable
damage to the rides. The O.P.P.
have been notified and are in-
vestigating, and should the
culprits be caught, charges will
be laid.
Word has also been heard
that young teenagers are
smashing glass bottles on the
roadway at the corner of West
Howard St. and Clan Gregor
Square, and several persons are
complaining about flat tires.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred LeBeau
had as their guests for the
weekend, their grandchildren,
Rob and Tara Cluff of London.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lind-
say recently enjoyed a holiday
in Northern Ontario and
Algonquin Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Longfield and Patsy of
Burlington were Saturday
visitors with Mrs, Margaret
Garrett and family,
Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Higgins
have recently returned from a
vacation at Lake of Bays where
they visited with Mrs. Del
Massecar; then to Haliburton
for a few days with their aunt,
Mrs. G,M. Chesney; then on to
Port Dover for several clays
with their son and daughter-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. W,J. Higgins
and grandsons, Colin and
Scott.
Best wishes to Mrs. Ed Reid,
who had the misfortune to
break her arm near her wrist
on Thursday.
Mr. Robert Parker and
David, Dorchester, visited on
Friday with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Parker. Saturday
guests with them were their son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs, W.C. Parker and Jennifer
of London.
Mrs. Alice Cardiff, Toronto,
was a registered guest at the
Albion Hotel for the weekend.

last week.

residents of Huronview as well
as several nursing homes in the

crokinole were played on Wed-
nesday with volunteers from
the Vanastra Opt-Mrs. Club.
Peggy Hammond, Marlene

chestra with Miss Pearl Gidley
at the piano, Mrs. Mary Taylor,

Welcoming into the sanc-
tuary at Londesboro United
Church were Harry Snell and
Henry Hunking. Ushers were
Wayne Hulley, David Lear,
Calvin Lovett, Bryan McClure.
The choir anthem was
"Someone" with Louise Lovett
taking the solo part, Rev.
McDonald's message was "A
matter of tradition"., Mr. Jim
Jemeison, the clerk of session,
introduced the parents and
Rev. McDonald baptized Kevin
George Wright, son of Garnet
and Margaret Wright, and
Troy William Chambers, son of
Wes. and Colleen Chambers.
The flowers in the church were
placed by Mr. and Mrs. Robbie
Burns in honour of the
marriage of their daughter Bar-
bara to Colin Paterson on
Saturday by Rev. McDonald in
St. Lukes in-the-Garden Chapel
in London, Ontario.

tournament this season was
held on Sunday, September 9,
at Sunset Golf Course,
Goderich, with 55 golfers par-
ticipating. The low gross win-
ner was Randy Miller and low
net winner was Don Tremeer.

death of their sister-in-law,
