Witnesses to gather
While many people are re-
adjusting themselves to the
usual September routine,
Jehovah's Witnesses are busy
planning another get together.
Mr. Walter Gardiner
presiding minister of the local
congregation said that the
second semi-annual circuit
assembly will again be held at
the John Diefenbaker Secon-
dary School at Hanover this
weekend September 8 and 9.
When asked why such a
gathering is scheduled so soon
after the' large Toronto conven-
tion, Mr. Gardiner said, "Our
assemblies both large and
small are a source of great
spiritual strength to us. They
supplement our fine
congregational meetings in
Kingdom Hall each week. We
welcome them anytime."
Mr. L.F. Gray the convention
manager for the Toronto
gathering will act as chairman.
Besides other activity he will
deliver the main discourse on
Sunday at 2 p,tn. "Act Wisely
as the End Draws Near."
Mr. E. Daniel Skinner, who
also shared in the Toronto con-
vention will be on hand to
speak to the gathering,
Messers Gray and Skinner
are in the Hanover area this
week making final preparations
with the Hanover congregation
to host upwards to a thousand
persons as the assembly gets
under way with the theme
"Keep Close in Mind
Jehovah's Day."
"We enjoyed ourselves in '
Hanover last spring," said Gar-
diner "and we have every
reason to believe we will again
this coming weekend."
It was a "good news bad news" situation at the Huron County Son and Crop Improvement
Association's annual Bean Day at the farm of Jack Peck near Kippen. The bad news was

There's nothing in the safety
rules, whether at work, play, in
the home or on the highway,
where it says we must take a
chance, especially a chance that
may result in an accident and
perhaps death, Don't use short
cuts or ignore basic safety rules,
says the Ontario Safety League.
Don't take a chance with life.
Londesboro United Church
Manse was the setting for a
lovely quiet wedding on Mon-
day Sept, 3rd when Margaret
Hummel, daughter of Mr, and
Mrs. Andrew Hummel of RR 1
Clinton became the bride of
James Harold Medd, son of
Mr, and Mrs. John Medd RR 1
Clinton.
The Rev, Stan McDonald of-
ficiated at the double ring
ceremony.
The bride looked lovely in a
full-length gown of white
puckered polyester. Dainty
white lace enhanced the tiny
stand-up collar and bodice, The
same lace enhanced the long
sleeves that ended in tiny frills
at the bottom. Her detachable
lace train fell from the waist
and was enhanced by a self tie
bow on her gown. Her four tier
veil was held in place by a
Juliet cap. She carried a
cascade of yellow tea roses and
white and peach tinted daisies
in fern.
The Maid of Honour, Miss
Janice Turner, RR 1, Varna
wore a full length gown of
peach satin seersucker styled
similar to the bride4, with a
dainty ruffle on the bodice,
long sleeves ending in a full
and self tie bow at the back.
Bridesmaid was Miss Kerri
Medd, sister of the groom. Her
dress was styled identical to
the Maid of Honour'S in lime
green voile with embossed
flowers of peach, pink and
mauve.
The attendants carried
colonial bouquets of white and
peach tinted daisies nestled in
fern with green streamers. They
wore white cornflowers in their
hair. They also wore lockets
given to them by the bride.
Groomsman was David
Medd of Blyth, brother of the
groom and Mr. Bruce Johnston
of Grand Valley cousin of the
groom was the usher.
A lovely informal wedding
dinner was served at the home
of the groom's parents
following the ceremony.
Prior to the wedding,
showers were given by Miss
Janice Turner RR I, Varna
and Mrs. Raymond Finch,
aunt of the groom.
