of Barbara' Lewis Collings and
Martin Wayne Straughan on
_August 4, 1973 at 2:30 p.m.

ceremony. Murray McNeil
provided the music.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Warner R.
Collings of Londesboro and the
groom is the eldest son of Mr.
and Mrs. Martin C. Straughan
of R.R. 2, Goderich,
The bride, given in marriage
by her father and mother chose
a full-length gown of white
organza with pink ruffle trim
and long tight sleeves, Her
only jewellery was her great
grandmother's pink cameo
brooch. Her four tiered silk
illusion veil was held by a
small floral head dress trim-
med with seed pearls and
cascading dainty white flowers.

ton won the vase, Proceeds of
the draw was for the Van

The meeting closed with the
Mizpah Benediction and lunch
was served.
Varna United Church was
decorated with gold can-
delabra, mauve mums, white
daisies and baby's breath ent-
wined among white candles for
the pretty wedding on July 14
of Virginia Lorraine Townsend
of R.R. 3, Clinton, daughter of
Mrs. 0. Pryce of R.R. 3, Dublin
and Donald Jervis Taylor, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor
of R.R. 3, Clinton.
Rev. Reddock and Rev.
Morrison officiated at the
double ring ceremony, while
organist Marjorie Papple ac-
companied soloists Ruth Town-
send and Grace Campbell, who

sail. Second prize will be a
hooked rug; made and donated
by a resident of Huronview. It
is planned to have a large bake
sale and the Women's In-
stitutes will be contacted by
letter and asked to make a
special effort to contribute to
the sale,
The Annual Convention of
Administrators and Auxiliaries
of the Homes for the Aged will
be held on September 16, 17
and 18th and Mrs. Colclough
and Mrs. Peck will be the
delegates representing the
1-Ittronview Auxiliary, As the
Convention will be held at the
time of our next meeting it was
decided to advance the date of
the September meeting one •
week to September 10th.

Church was the setting for' the
July 21 wedding of Susan
Roorda and Robert Cecil
Hogeboom, both of Downsview.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Roorda of
Clinton: and the groom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Hogeboom 'of Kingston.
Rev,. Alvin Beukema of-
ficiated at the double ring
ceremony and organist Dick
Roorda accompanied Alice and
Janet Roorda who sang a duet,
"The Wedding Stng.!'
The bride wore a gown of
crepe with antique lace and a
picture hat. She carried a
bouquet of colored stephanotis
with white daisies in the colors
of the bridesmaids dresses.
Matron of Honor was Mrs.
Maaike Teeuwsen of Jordan
Station Ontario. She wore a
turquoise blue dress with a pic-
ture hat and carried a nosegay
in colours of the bridesmaids
dresses.
The attendants were Janet
Roorda, Alice Roorda, and
Sally Vlaar. All were dressed in
gowns of ice cream colors. The
flowergirls were Christine and
Pamela Vlaar.
The groomsman was Ernest
Canivet of Winnipeg and the
ushers were Peter Scott,
Clarence Roorda and Les
Galiezinski.
Following a reception at the
Clinton Legion Hall, the couple
took a wedding trip to the
Maritimes and are now
residing in Downsview.
THOMAS-PAYNE
Mr. and Mrs. Warner Payne
of Bayfield are pleased to an-
nounce the marriage of their
only daughter Patricia to Ed-
ward Thomas, son of Mr. and
Mrs. A.E. Thomas of London.
The marriage took place
August 31 at Hensall United
Church.
The regular monthly meeting
of the Huronview Ladies
Auxiliary was held on Monday
August 20, in the Craft Room
at Huronview with members
present from Auburn, Blyth,
Clinton, Hensall and Lon-
desboro. The president, Mrs.
Colclough opened the meeting
with The Lord's Prayer and
welcomed the members. The
minutes of the previous
meeting were read and ap-
bridesmaids were Annette Lane
of London, Ivy Fisher of
Goderich and Bonnie Finch of
Clinton. All are sisters of the
bride. They were dressed in
floor-length gowns of mauve
flowers on a white background
with empire styled waists with
long flared skirts. The V
necklines flowed into a crepe-
style collars. All carried
nosegays of mauve starburst
mums, white daisies; pink car-
nations, baby's breath and
mauve streamers.
Groomsman was Barry
Taylor of R.R. 3 Clinton and
the ushers were Murray
Morrison of Ilderton, and
Gerald and Glen Hayter of
Varna.
Jacqul Taylor, 'niece of the
groom was the flowergirl and
Jimmy Moore, nephew of the
groom was the ringbearer.
Following the wedding, a
reception was held in the
basement of Varna United
Church and a dance was held
later at the White Carnation in
Holmesville.
The bride's mother received
guests wearing a floor-length
gown of floral crepe, with long
sleeves,, and A. V. -neckline. She
wore ,white 'accessories and a
corsage of pink carnations. The
groom's mother assisted
wearing a floor-length gown of
mauve and white crepe, trim-
med with white brocade, She
wore white accessories and a
corsage of two-toned mauve
carnations.
Leaving for a wedding trip to
Niagara Falls and the
Thousand Islands the bride
wore a yellow crimp pant suit
with white collar and white ac-
cessories and a red rose cor-
sage.
The couple are residing at
R.R. 3 Clinton.
Prior to her marriage, the
bride was honoured at showers
given by Laurie Bell, a suprise
shower by Mrs. Pat Taylor and
Carol Moore, a shower by
friends at Huronview, where
the bride is employed, a sur-
prise shower given by Barb
Holland and Madelon
Maloney, a community shower
by Cavan United Church and a
miscellaneous shower at the
home of Mrs. A. Tyndall.
Debbie German and Miss Mar-
tha Straughan, sister of the
groom. They were dressed in
similar gowns of chiffon, Bev's
was mauve with white trim and
a large picture hat to match
while Debbie's and Martha's
were pink. They carried con-
trasting nosegays of carnations
and shasta daisies.
Richard Collings, brother of
the bride, was best man and the
guests were ushered by Mr. Jim
Straughan and Mr. Brian
Straughan, brothers of the
groom,
The reception was held at the
Blyth Memorial Hall.
For travelling the bride
changed to a burgundy and
white dress with her orchid cor-
sage and black accessories.
Out of town guests came
from Winnipeg, Springfield,
Mass., London, Wingham and
Goderich.
