Very special guest for the event was Mr. Roobal's brother Mr. Cor- nelieus Roobal of Holland, Several congratulatory telephone calls were received from Holland during the day. CHURCH SERVICE A goodly crowd attended Hensel' United Church for the morning service on Sunday. Rev. Don Beck preached on the sermon topic "Why". The musical contribution to the ser- vice was provided by John, Beatrice, Mary and Bruce, family of Mr. and Mrs, Bert Ti;Tniipion John accompanied on the guitar while Mary, Beatrice and Bruce sang. The flowers in the Church were placed there from the Wolfe- Kyle wedding. WOLFE - KYLE WEDDING Nancy Lbuisa Kyle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Kyle of Hensall, was united in marriage to James Max Wolfe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Blake Wolfe of Straffordville. The quiet ceremony, performed by Rev. Donald Beck, took place in Hensall United Church on Saturday August 18th, 1973. Following a honeymoon to An- tigua, the young couple will reside in Tillsonburg. OBITUARY BEER At his late residence on Sun- day, August 19, 1973, Frederick Charles Beer died in his 76th year. Beloved husband of the former Hilda Blogg, dear father of George of Heiman, John of C,F.B. Borden, and Mrs, (Elaine) Ralph McArthur of Edmonton. Also surviving are eight grandchildren. The late Mr. Beer rested at the Bonthron Funeral Chapel in Hensall/when funeral service was held/August 21 with Rev, Don Beck officiating, Interment was in Hensall Union Cemetery, Pallbearers were Ron Mock, Jim Taylor, Dave Sangster, Wilmer Dalrymple, Jack Sim- mons and Al Scholl. . SHEPHERD At the Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich on Sunday, August 19, 1973, the former Emma J. Dickson of Hensall died in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late John Shepherd. Surviving are two stepsons, Clarence and Harold Shepherd of Toronto, and two nieces Mrs, Bill (Mona) Finch, and Mrs. Morley (Helen).Sanders, both of Grand Bend, The late Mrs. Shepherd rested at the Bonthron Funeral Home in Hensall when a private funeral service was held on August 21, 1973 with Rev. Don Beck officiating. Interment was in McTaggarts Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred San- ders, Ted Sanders, Bill Finch, Jeff 'Finch, Bill Gibbs and Jack Consitt. PERSONALS One day last week, Mr. Cor- nelieus Roobal of Holland was entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Don Dodds and family of Seaforth. They visited Storybook Gardens in London and points of interest in Lon- don and district, On Thursday they visited with Mr. and Mrs. John Konynendyke in Wood- stock. Mr, Sim Roobal and Mr. Cornelieus Roobal visited with Mr. Tony Gelderlaud in Ridgetown over the weekend and while there visited Uncle Tom's Cabin and the Oil Museum at Petrolia and surround trig, area. a ktRe,a ;Cochrane of Toronto visited on Monday with his sister Mrs. Hugh McMurtrie, Mrs. Sim Roobal is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital in Lon- don, Mr. and Mrs, Don Dodds and family, and Mr. Cornelieus Roobal, and Mr. Sim Roobal motored to Niagara Falls for a sight seeing tour Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. OXFAM 11,17tAWAVONAL DEVELOPMtlir PEOPLE 97 Eglintoh Ave., East Toronto 315, Ontario The Passe Muraille Theatre Group, who wrote, produced and presented a play based on their stay at a Goderich Town- ship farm last summer, were hack in the area last week to , film the play for a Toronto film company. The film, being shot by Michael Ondaatze for Mongrel productions of Toronto, is about the play, the Farm Show and includes interviews with people in the district and shots of the countryside. Being shot in 16 mm, the film is expected to be from one to two hours in length and will be released this Fall. Paul Thompson, Passe Muraille Director said he hoped the film would be premiered in the Clinton-Blyth The weather was ideal on Monday for the concert on the lawn by "The Band". During the afternoon a special number was played for those having BirthdayS during the week... The Elirnville Women's In- stitute was host for the August Birthday Party on Wednesday afternoon, One hundred and fifty residents and guests atten- ded the aprty with Mrs. Murray Coward as mistress of ceremonies. The program included tap dancing by Michele Robinson, vocal trio numbers by the Pym family, Mrs, Tom Hero played some favourite piano melodies with Carol Allin leading a sing song and a group of twelve young people organized a rhythm band called, "The Last Resort". area in the near future. The Farm Show was a play the Toronto Theatre group assembled while they stayed on the Ray Bird Farm in Goderich Township last summer. The play subsequently opened to rave notices in Toronto and last April and May it returned to tour the area, It also became the first Canadian written play to make the Stratford Shakespearean Stage in ten years. Last Mon- day August 20, the play opened at the prestigious National Arts Centre in Ottawa for a two week stand. Director Thompson said that the group had spent this sum- mer in Cobalt Ontario inter- viewing people there and writing a play about the north, much the same way as they did in Clinton, The play, called "Under the Greywacke" will open in Toronto September 19 and Mr. Thompson said he hopes to tour the play in the small towns in southwestern Ontario next Spring. Thompson said that Passe Muraille were also working on a play about the in- famous Black Donnelly massacre in Lucan, Mr. Thom- pson added that the group had received an $1,800 Canada Council grant for their tour last spring, Should area threatre and film buffs miss the local premiere of the Farm Show film, the reels will be available from the Canadian Film Co-op in Toronto. (Frank) Golding has recently been awarded the second clasp to the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD), by National Defence Headquar- ters. The award was presented upon his completion of 32 years meritorious service with both the regular and reserve Canadian Forces, Lawson spent Sunday at Lions Head and the children returned home with them. Mrs. Ken Betties of Win- throp visited on Monday with Major Golding joined the Royal Canadian Airforce in 1941 and was the last comman- der of Canadian Forces Base, Clinton. He is presently Senior Staff Officer at Canadian Forces Camp Ipperwash, Ontario.
