The Ontario Wheat
Producers' Marketing Board
has made the first sale of 1973
crop winter wheat for export at
the highest price ever received
since the board began
operations in 1958,
Mr. K.A. Standing, secretary-
manager of the marketing
board said slightly more than
370,000 bushels were sold at a
price over $4.00 per bushel
basis Montreal.
The sale was made to a
traditional customer for im-
mediate shipment according to
the board official.
Mr. Standing also advised
that the marketing board has
taken possession of a volume in
excess of five million bushels of
the 1973 crop to date under the
new agency marketing system.
lie said the board has
moved about two million
bushels into export position
and the balance is moving into
domestic consumption
positions.

the WOAA Championship last
Sunday afternoon os they
defeated Seaforth two straight
games,
The Juveniles finished their
regular season play undefeated,
as they .bearGorlerich .Saturday

to 5,
In the game Clinton rallied
in the 2nd inning for four runs
in the third for five runs and
once again in the eighth inning
for nine more big runs, The
juveniles hitting power was led
by Robert (Mature!) MacAulay
who got five Dan
Colquhoun was on the mound
for Clinton, and struck out 13
batters and gave up four hits.
Clinton played a fair game,
getting 10 hits,
The Juveniles played their
first game of a best two out of
three series here under the
lights last Thursday night for
the Western Ontario Cham-
pionship,
A young enthusiastic group
of competitors took over the
Hully Gully mini bike grand
prix course on Sunday, August
12 and provided a fine display
of skill and sportsmanship for
all those on hand, Two popular
events in addition to the Grand
Prix competition were the mini
bike drags, run on a 1/8 mile

Seaforth began the scoring in
the top of the second inning
getting two players across the
plate. The big green machine
took the lead over in the bot-
tom of the same inning when
Victor Kennedy batted 1n three

The Seaforth team got
another pair of runs in the.
third inning off three hits,

course. After several close

lead in the first inning getting
three runs as Victor Kennedy,
Steve Cook and Dan
Colquhoun crossed the plate,
In the fourth inning, Clinton
got one more run and another
run again in the fifth inning.
Seaforth finally got on the
scoreboard in the sixth inning
when Nicholson, Southgate,
Eisler and Phillips came home
for four runs.
In the eight, Clinton rallied
for five big runs from four hits.
The Juveniles held .Seaforth to
one run as Greg Bitter picked
up a long hit ball and relayed it
to Steve Cook to Cal Fremlin to
pick off ,Cheeney at third.
The juveniles got two more
runs in the ninth to Seaforth's
three. Clinton won the game.14
to 8 to win WOAA, two games
to none,
Don MacDonald pitched for
Clinton, giving up only five
hits.
The juveniles now advance
to the O.B.A. playoffs. Please

In Arva last Sunday after-
noon the Clinton Colts dropped
the opening game of the Huron-
Perth semi-finals to Ave by a
score of 3-2. Seven errors by the
Colts proved to be very costly
as all the Arva runs were
unearned. Brad Dutot who had
previously lost on a one hitter,
again suffered the loss as he
allowed only four hits.
Clinton took a 1.0 lead in the
fifth inning as Stew Mustard
led off with an infield single,
Mustard scored all the way
from first on a booming double
by Hans Leppington. Arva tied
the game in the seventh'inning
1-1 as they scored an unearned
run on two Colt errors.
The Colts took the lead again
in the eighth, 2-1, when, with
one out, Hans Leppington and
Doc Miller both walked. Brad
Dutol singled Leppington in
with the go ahead run at the
time.
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of
the ninth, Wayne Parkinson got
on by another Colt error. Craig
Parkinson singled Wayne to
sec.?nd and when a wild throw
came back into the infield, both
runners moved up. Wally
Parkinson singled home one
run with Craig Parkinson

Mery Batkin of Clinton top-
ped the trap shooters at the
weekly shoot at the Vanastra
Gun Club with a 23 out of 25

With scorching sun and high
humidity last Wednesday after-
noon August 8, the Clinton
Lawn Bowling Club held their
mixed tournament with ten en-
tries, from Goderich, Seaforth
and Clinton. Top winners were:
Harry Williams and Ruth Roy,
Clinton; followed by Norman
Garrett and Jean Gray, Clin-
ton; Bert Gray and Mrs, Baker,
Clinton; Fred Richardson and
Edna Overholt, Goderich,
On August 25th the Club will
hold its 2nd '!Antival Bankers
Tournament" at which time
the prizes will be donated by
the Bank of Montreal, the
Royal Bank and the Clinton
Credit Union, First prize is
valued at $30.

night at 8 P.M.
Clinton is also involved in
the first round of the O.B.A.
playdowns against Thorndale
Angels. The first game of this
series will be played tomorrow
night (Friday) at 8:30 p.m. So
fans, get on your horse and sup-
port your Colts.
In the other semi-final
Huron-Perth play-off, Dash-
wood beat Thorndale 1-0 in 14
innings and leads that series
one genie to none.
Wingham and Bert Mahaffy of
Dublin tied for second with 22
hits each. Other scores were

Jim Hogg of Seaforth, 20 hits
each; Ernie Marshall of Mit-

At the skeet shoot last Satur-
day, John Land of Bayfield was
the top marksman with a 24

Bill Stewart of Goderich and
Louis Morrelo of Mitchell tied
for second spot with 23 hits
