got its fourth win in five starts
at the Clinton Raceway when
he won the tenth race in 2:08.1.
Payoff was $3.30.
At the Kincardine Raceway
Monday afternoon, Claybrooke
Way was third and fifth in his
two Wats. tarry on Sly was out
of the money.
Two horses were claimed at
the Clinton Raceway Sunday
afternoon when James Crosby
haltered Leos Star from Robert
Taylor of Granton, out of the
first race. Claybrooke Ricci was
-claimed from Irene P. Dupee by
Kenneth Holmes, Seaforth, out
of the fourth race.
Kenneth Holmes of Seaforth
reports that he has sold
Claybrooke Nitro to Douglas
McNeil, Hensalt and Larry's
Lad has been sold to Dale Ken-
nedy, Seaforth. Both sales were
lot private terms.
In London and District third
Division League play on the
weekend, Clinton hosted
Oakridge and went down 5-3.
The game started with Clin-
ton showing strength in attack
as usual. This lasted for the
first 10 minutes after which
play .became very mediocre.
Oakridge scored a • lovely goal
about this time which seemed
to deflate the Clinton team and
when shortly afterwards
Oakridge scored again, Clinton
fell apart. Play became ragged
and a definite lack of concen-

taken goal did nothing to lift
Clinton from the doldrums and
Oakridge scored again before

Clinton, who have promised
so much by their play of recent
weeks, were definitely having
an "off" day and Oakridge ad-

The Clinton. Fish and Game
Bantams swept their best of
five play-off series against
Seaforth, three games to wane
when they beat Seaforth 10-7
last Thursday night and again,
Sunday when they travelled to
Seaforth to down their hosts 16-
8.
In the game last Thursday
night, Clinton came from,
behind to nip Seaforth 10-7.1
Clinton drew first blood in the.
first inning on a lead-off double,
and scored on an error hit off of
the bat of Riehl. Then it was
Seaforth all over the
scoreboard as they scored four
rune on three hits and two
Clinton errors.
Clinton narrowed the gap to'
4-3 in the third on three walks,
and three errors, Seaforth
widened the margin again to 7-
3 when 1-learn hit a three run
homer, but Clinton fought back
with three runs in their half of
the fifth on three singles, a
walk, and a sacrifice fly.
Seaforth scored their last run
on a walk and a double by
Scott.
Clinton finally went ahead in
,the seventh when Harkes slam,
med a triple and then scored on
an error and Steve Steep who
hit a single, scored on a passed
ball. Blake struck out three
Seaforth batters before he
needed relief help from Hart.

The Clinton Juvenile girl's
softball team downed Mitchell
14-3 last Sunday night to sweep
their best of three play-off
series two games to none.
4he Clinton girls now ad-
vance to the second round of
their division play-offs when
they play the winners of the
Sebringville-Brodhagen
series.
The coach of the team, Jim
Collins, said the girls would ap-
preciate the town's support in
the upcoming series and future
games, will be posted
throughout the town.
n the Sunday encounter,
Mark Nicholson played an out-
standing game for Clinton as
he struck out 15 batters to lead
Clinton to a 16-8 romp and the
series- win. Clinton had 16 hits
including a hornertin by
Nicholson. .
Clinton jumped into an early
lead when they scared six runs
in the first inning on twos
doubles and thiee singles, They
boosted their lead by scoring
three more runs in the second,
Nicholson gave up one run in
the third and then helped his
own cause by hitting a two run
homer in the fifth to increase
the Clinton lead to 12-1.
Seaforth came back with two
runs in the sixth and then
narrowed the gap with four
runs in the eighth when Clinton
errors proVed costly.
The Clinton bats came alive
in the ninth and scored three
runs on five hits'while Seaforth
scored only one run.
Leading hitters in Sunday's
contest were Paul Priestap and
Doug Peterson with two singles
each, Doug Riehl with a double
and a single, Mark Nicholson
with a homerun and a triple
and Bob Harkes with two
singles. Singles went to John
Hart, Jack Cook and Dave
Counter.
Clinton now advances to the
Northern Group for the WOAA
Championships which will
Clinton's next home game
will be Sept. 8 against St.
Thomas.

Finally, Clinton clicked! The
last 20 minutes were all Clin-
tons. Armstrong sent a long,

Carter in goal didn't have
one shot to save from then on
as Clinton came to life and
bombarded the Oakridge goal.
Graham Yeats, Lipp and Glen
McLachlan all had shots on
goal either saved or shot
narrowly past the post.
A free kick taken by Lipp
finally resulted in Clinton's
third goal when the ball was
deflected in off an Oakridge
defender. Clinton kept this
pressure on right up to the final
