Milverton sees first action on iturday at 1 p.m., as they start their - quest against ten other Ontario teams for the On- tario title. Mips Graham, who has prayed for the Winstonettes for the last four years, was picked by the Ontario champs to play with them in the National finals for the last two years. The winning team has the op- tion of picking up two players from any of the losing teams, and in 1971 Miss Graham was picked by Kitchener, who won the National title at that time. Action in the 19 game tour- nament starts this Friday night at 7 p.m. Miss Graham is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mel Graham of Brucefield. The Women's Institute meeting on July 26th was held at the Clinton Community Cen- tre and took the form of a meeting and picnic. Owing to the rainy weather, Colts lose one hitter Despite an outstanding display on the mound, when Clinton Colt pitcher Brad Dutot threw a one hitter, Clin- ton lost to Sarnia last weekend in a tournament in Walkerton by a 1-0 score. The loss knocked Clinton out of the tournament which was eventually won by Corunna, who beat Owen Sound 4-2 in the final game. r The Sarnia run came in the fourth when a Sarnia player reached second on a two base fielding error and then got to third when Dutot gave up his only hit of the day. The run scored on a sacrifice fly. Clinton took on Dashwood last night at the Community 'Park and travel to Walkerton this Sunday for their final league game. it was held indoors. After the opening exercises and immediate business items, plans were finalized for the bus trip on the 23rd of August to the Erland Lee Homestead and Doon Pioneer Village and Museum. Meeting places will be Murphys Garage, and the Clinton Town Hall at 8:15 a.m. Goderich Township Institute will be asked to fill the bus and all Clinton members wishing to go are to contact Mrs. Mervyn Batkin immediately. Mrs. Devereau, Mrs. Managhan, Mrs. W. Colclough and Mrs. C. Elliott then con- ducted the sports activities for the day. A pantry sale then followed of canned goods and fresh vegetables. A picnic supper followed the singing of the In- stitute grace with the social committee looking after the making of the tea etc. had the rain, everyone had a very enjoyable time. The third meeting of the North Huron 4-H Trailblazers was held at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Ray Flowers on Mon- day July 16th. Mrs. Flowers acted as a judge and with the help of four members of the club, showed the correct way to show a horse at halter for the fair day. Jim Brigham of Brussels discussed the ways of grooming your horse to hide his bad pdints and bring out the good ones. The meeting was closed and lunch was served. Thanks go to Dr. and Mrs. Flowers. There was a large crowd on hand last Sunday for the third running of the Hully Gully Snowmobile Grass Drag warm- ups at Varna. Floyd Venner of Hensall hit 23, while Don Cunningham of Wingham struck 22. Other scores included: Herman Fischer, Benmiller and Mervin Batkin of Clinton, 20; Jim Hogg of Seaforth, 19; and Tom Allen of Londesboro, 18. At the skeet shoot last Satur- day, Tom Jardin of Wingham downed 24 skeet out of 25 tries, while Herman Fischer of Ben- miller hit 21, John Land of Bayfield and Don Bricker each hit 20, while Doug Scarrow of Seaforth and Mervin Batkin of Clinton struck 19. Don Cun- ningham of Wingham and Jim Hogg of Seaforth each shot 18 and Ashley Gilbert of Goderich hit 17. `The Ontario Safety League notes that approximately one out of every eighteen licensed drivers in Ontario was involved in an accident last year.
