Annie May Venner
Annie May Penner of • Clint.
ton passed away at Huronyiew
pp July 14,1973 after an jline4i
of three years. She was 91,
Mrs. Vernier was born the
former Annie May Wilton in
Stratford on Novernber 22, 1881.
In 1906 she married C. H, Yon-
ner iu Stratford. He
predeceased her, Following
their marriage, the couple
resided in Stratford and came
to Clinton in 1915.
As well as being a housewife
and mother, Mrs, Venner was a
long-time member of Ontario
Street United Church.
She is survived by two
daughters,Mrs. John (Irene)
Fotheringham of Burlington
and Mrs. Walter (May) Pepper
of Clinton; one brother James
Wilton of Stratford; four gran-
dchildren and nine great-
grandehildren. She was
predeceased by one son Harry
of Hamilton.
Funeral services were held
from the Ball Funeral Home on
July 14, with Dr. Mowatt in
charge, Burial was in Clinton
Cemetery.
Pallbearers 'were Gordon
Veinier of Ajax; Arnold Venner
of Port Perry; Bud Gibbons of
Kitchener; Harold Johnston,
Austin Matheson and Eldon
O'Brien, all of Clinton.
Flower bearers were J. H.
Venner of Hamilton and F. H.
Pepper of Dobbinton, Ontario.
Besides being "Town Talk"

served as a medium for
apologies, Last week the paper
published the pictures of the
seven students from Central
Huron Secondary School who
had been designated Ontario
Scholars, The accompanying
write-up neglected to state that
Rhoda Munnings is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Munnings of Clinton.
Visiting recently with their
aunt, Mrs. Gladys Wallis, also
with Mrs. Roy Tupper and
other relatives were Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Brown of Calgary,
Alberta.
F/O Reg Cook of London, On-
tario, spent aome days last
week with his mother, Mrs.
Ella Cook of Isaac Street,
Miss Barbara Elliott, who is
a laboratory assistant for the
summer months in St. Mary's
Hospital, Kitchener, spent the
weekend with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Cecil Elliott, Clinton,
Also in town last week for
several days were Mr. and Mrs.
Bern Miller and daughter,
Arlene, of Sault Ste. Marie, On-
tario, who visited with Mr. and
Mrs. M. Batkin and relatives in
the vicinity.
Back, after vacationing for a
few days at Collingwood, Owen
Sound and Tobermory, are Mr.
and Mrs, Aaron Fisher.
4-H news may appear
elsewhere in this week's paper
but the following found its way
to the writer and is worthy of
comment. On July 10th, a
specially selected group of 4-H
members from Huron County
attended a conference at the
Agricultural College, Guelph.
Included in the group from the
immediate vicinity were Louise

were accompanied to Guelph by
Miss Jane PerigilleY, the in-
coming Home Economlat for
Huron County who will be
replacing Miss Catherine Hunt
at the Ministry of Agriculture
office here. Miss Hunt is
leaving shortly to be married.
While at the Guelph conference
the 4-H girls heard speakers
and career panelists and par-
ticipated in food preparations
and floral arrangements among
other demonstrations. Being
billeted' in the University
residence and meeting with
other representatives from all
over the province proved to be
a most valuable experience.
Again - some forthcoming 4-
H news. The dates for the 4-H
Exchange with Gladwin
County, Michigan are as
follows: July 18-25, members
from Gladwin County will be
travelling to Huron County to
be hosted for one week. August
1-8, members from Huron
County will be travelling to
Gladwin County to return the
visit. 4-H members from this
area participating in the ex-
change are; Don Carter, R.R. 3
Blyth; Lynn Flowers, Clinton;
Harry Franken, R.R. 2,
Auburn; Margaret Franken,
R.R. 2, Auburn; Cathy Peel, R.
R. 1, Auburn; Wayne Pryce,

Stewart, R.R. 1, Hensall.

The twenty-first annual Mer-
ner Reunion was held Sunday
at the School House, Dash-
wood, with 60 in attendance.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Reschke,
Detroit conducted the sports.
After a delicious
smorgasbord dinner, the
president, Ron Merner,
presided for the business
meeting. It was decided to hold
the reunion next year at the
same place, the second Sunday
in July
The executive for the coming
year is as follows: president,
Claire Merner, Bayfield; vice-
president, Roy Brotk, Herman,
secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Dan
Gelispie, Detroit; sports corn,
mittee, Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Smith, Zurich.
The Summerhill Ladiesi Club
met for their July meeting at
the home of Ida Wright.
Isabell Steward opened the
meeting with a reading
"Amazing Grace". The Creed
and the Lords Prayer were said
in unison. Twenty-three mem-
bers and three guests were
welcomed.
Correspondence was received
from Marg Wright' and
Suzanne Vodden.
The minutes of the previous
meeting and the treasurers
report were read and declared
correct.
July 23 is the date set for the
annual community picnic at the
Clinton Community Park. On
the sports committee are Jim
and Margarette Snell, Glenna
Ellis and Sandra Good.
Margaret Ball is to be
hostess for the August meeting.
On lunch and program are
Viola Farquhar, Laura Forbes
and Vern Gibbings. Roll call is
to be'announced by "something
interesting I have done this
summer".

Donna Gibbings. Donna also
walked away with the prize for
the intelligence contest directed
by Lorna Ellis.
The Queen and Grace were
sung before lunch was served.
THOMAS STANLEY NEALE
Thomas Stanley Neale of
Mill Street, London passed
away July 12, 1973 after a
short illness. He was 70.
Mr. • Neale was born in
November of 1902 in East
Angus, Quebec. He retired in
1964 from the Market Square
Branch of the Bank of Mon-
treal.
In October of 1934, he
married a former. Brucefield
girl, Leila Grace Stackhouse in
Brucefield. She survives him.
Following their marriage, the
couple resided in Elora, Glen-
coe and London, Mr. Neale was
a member of Colborne Street
United Church in London.
Besides his wife, he is sur-
vived by one son Ronald of
Orillia; one daughter Patricia
Munro of Scarborough; two
brothers, Harry and Fred, both
of Thorold and four grand-
