UNITED CHURCH
Dominion Day service was
held at the United Church Sun-
day morning. greeting into the
sanctuary were Harry Snell
and Henry flunking ushers
were Tom Pollard and Kevin
Hulley with Mrs. Harry Lear at
the organ, Rev. McDonald's
story to The children was
"Count your blessings". his
message was Freedom, wilt is
it?"
CHEERIO CLUB
The Cheerio meeting was
held on Wednesday night at the
home of Ida Townsend. Myrtle
Fairservice opened meeting
with reading "Welcome" and
"a prayer for wisdom" and
gave several short readings
followed by prayer.
The minutes of last meeting
were read and July meeting
will be at the home of Tru
Duizer with Group 4 in charge.
Roll call was answered with a
current event by 14 members
with six visitors present. The
program was slides shown by
Dorothy Lillie taken while they
were in Florida and were much
enjoyed by all. Some cards were
played and lunch was served by
Ida Townsend, Myrtle Fairser-
vice, Dorothy Brunsdon and
Ida Durnin.

Londesboro, received her
diploma as a graduate nurse
on June 25 at Convocation
Hall of the. University of
Toronto. Wendy is a graduate
of the Atkinson School of Nur-
sing of Toronto Western
Hospital and has taken a
position on the staff there
beginning in September.
SHOBBROOK REUNION
On Sunday, July 1st the
Shobbrook reunion was held at
Seaforth Lions Park,
Gordon Shobbrook,
president, welcomed 'all and a
mintiteli silence was observed
for those who had passed 00.70
members enjoyed a
smorgasbord dinner convened
by Beth Knox, Laura Saunder-
cock, Bert and Dora Shob-
brook,
The minutes of 1972 re-union
were read by secretary, Muriel
Millson, and regrets were
received from Ann and Bill .
Williard and Ross and Jerry
Radford. It was moved by Bert
Shobbrook and seconded by
Beth Knox to hold the 1974
picnic at the same time and
place. Cliff Saundercock read
the nominating report: past
president, Gordon and Darlene
Shobbrook; president, Ross and
Jerry Radford; vice-president,
Charlie and Shirley Shobbrook;
secretary, Bill and Joan
Crawford; sports, Wayne and
Lynn Peck, Cliff and Kay Saun-
dercock; nominations, Bert and
Dora Shobbrook, Clarence and
Maimie Crawford.
The plaque donated in
memory of Garnet Johnson was
presented to the oldest person
present ,Laura Saundercockl, by
Beatrice Johnson. Sports were
conducted by Melvin and Bar-
bara Knox and Charlie and
Shirley Shobbrook. Winners
were: girls 6 and over, Debbie
Shobbrook , Dora Lynn
Ellerby; boys 6 and over, David
Swan, Darren Millson; girls 10
and over Suzanne Johnson,
Nancy Johnson, Lori Saunder-
cock; ladies race in reverse,
Donna Gibbings. The oldest
person present was Laura
Saundercock, youngest present,
Scott Crich. Those attending
were from Niagara Falls,
Toronto, London, Woodstock,
Sarnia, Clinton, Blyth, Lon-
desboro. Many obtained their
family tree Book. Coming far-
thest was Beatrice Johnson of
Niagara Falls.
CUB AND SCOUT MEETING

Sdout Gioup committee held
their family night at the local
ball park with a ball game of
parents against the boys.
Following the ball game, the
graduation ceremony of Cubs
into Scouts was held on the
field. Cubmaster Stan
McDonald introduced each Cub
graduating, telling of his
record. Those graduating were
,Paul Middignal, Robert
Bunking, Kevin Fothergill and
Robert Thompson, After bid-
ding farewell to the fellow cubs,
the graduates were introduced
to Scoutmaster Nick Whyte
who welcomed them into the
`scout group.Cub Bruce
Hunking closed the service by
leading in the Lord's Prayer.
The families then retired to the
church hall for lunch and
fellowship.
OFFICIAL BOARD
The Official Board of United
Church met on Monday
evening June 25th in the
church hall. During the
business it was reported the in-
sulation .of church attic was
completed and the furnace
within the Manse would be
completed within the week, The
Board also received with regret
the resignation of organist and
choir leader Mrs. Harry Lear.
A committee was appointed to
secure replacements for these
positions.
Special services during the
summer were announced with
Mr. Heckendorn, a former
minister, speaking at the An-
nual Congregational Picnic on
Sunday, July 15th in Seaforth
Lions Park and Rev. Ludford
of Christian Island Indian
Reserve speaking on Sunday
July 22nd at 10 a.m.
Final plans are being made
for the vacation church school
to be held July 9th to lath.
PERSONALS
Lisa Duizer had a tonsil
operation in Clinton Hospital
on Thursday.
Congratulations to Mr. Bert
Hunking who celebrated his
80th birthday on Sunday when
many of his relations called on
him to wish him a Happy Hit-
thday. He received many cards
and a telephone call from his
niece Mrs. Doug Johnson
(Phyllis Manning) of Windsor.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Riley
spent a couple of days last week
at Pine Lake.
Rev. McDonald, was. in
,Belgrave on. .Tuesday,, evening
speaking to the General
Meeting of the United Church
Women and conducting their
study on "Marriage and Family
Counselling!'
Rev. McDonald was the
guest speaker at Hensel' Public
School graduating dinner held
in the Legion Hall on Thursday
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Allen
and boys spent the weekend at
Pine Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Shob-
brook, Darrell and Diana, Mr.
and Mrs. Bert Lyon, Wayne,
Cathy and Cheryl spent Satur-
day evening with Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Wise at Amberley.
Stephen Duizer clebrated
his fourth birthday on Satur-
day by entertaining his friends
Robbie and Michael Radford,
Darlene Hulley, Deana Lyn
and Brad Westerhout.
Rev. McDonald spent Sun-
day with his parents Mr. and
Mrs. Carl McDonald of Ethel.
Mrs. Jessie Jones visited with
her sister-in-law, Mrs. Oliver
Campbell of Bluevale from
Thursday to Sunday and atten-
ded the Campbell re-union at
Bluevale on Sunday when 60
attended. She returned home
with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Jones.
Mrs. D. Robertson and Mrs.
J. Chopin of Guelph visited on
Sunday with Mrs. G. Robinson.

Miss Edythe Beacom was
honoured on her retirement
from teaching after 37 years in
nine schools by her family at

Following dinner Murray Lyon
spoke a few words to Edythe
and Cheryl Lyon presented her
with a gift . Those present were

Villages of Bayfield and Brussels, in the
County of Huron; also property owners
in the Townships of Ashfield, Colborne,
Goderich„ Grey, Hay, Howiek, Hallett,
McKillop, Morris, Stanley, Tuekersmith,
Usborne, East Wawanosh and West Wa-
wanosh, in the County of Huron; also
property owners in the Towns of Clinton,
Exeter, Goderich and Wingham, in the
County of Huron.
In accordance with the Revised Weed Control
Act, 1972, Section 4, 14 and 20 and amendments
thereto, that unless noxious weeds growing on
their lands are destroyed by July 20th and
