ANNIVERSARY SERVICES
Hensall United Church was
filled Sunday morning for the
125th Anniversary service. Rev.
Andrew H. McKenzie B.A.,
B.D., minister of Knox
Presbyterian Church in Acton,
was the guest minister for the
morning.
Miss Wendy Elston of Cen.
tralia as guest soloist sang
and the choir rendered an an-
them with Wayne Payne taking
a solo part and Wayne and
Gail Travers taking a duet.
A social hour was held in the
Fellowship Hall following, Mr.
McKenzie is a Hensall native
and had an opportunity during
this time to meet old acquain-
tances and to make new ones.
A special , "Music
Alive" worship presentation
was held for the Anniversary
evening service, Albert Furtney
of Ingersoll conducted the ser-
vice and also led the
congregation and combined
Hensall and Chiselhurst choir
in the anthems and hymns.
Mr. Furtney is presently
Director of Christian
Education and Organist and
Choir director at Trinity
United Church in Inger'soll. Ac-
companying at the piano was
Miss Anne Wessenger, also of
Ingersoll.
Special guest for the evening
was Rev. Frederick M. Feist,
minister at St. Johns United
Church, Stratford, and
President of the United
Church's London Conference.
Mr. Feist told the
congregation a little about
plans for Conference for this
year.
BIBLE CANVASS
During the past two weeks
some members from the chur-
ches in P. ensall have been can-
vassing the village for the
Canadian Bible Society.
Mrs. Sim Roobal, Convener
for the project, reports that
proceeds received to date are
considerably lower than last
year.
Ladies canvassing from the
Presbyterian Church were
Erlene Stewart, Peggy Camp-
bell, Mrs. Maggie Campbell.
Mrs. Myrtle Orr and Mrs. Ruby
Hoggarth. From the Anglican
Church were Mrs. Ethel
Forrest, Mrs. Genevieve Win-
dover and Mrs. Annie Reid.
From the United Church were

PERSONAL ITEMS
Mrs. Rachel Schwalm atten-
ded the Presbyterian 58th an-
nual Council Board of Canada
which was held in Ewart
College in Toronto on May 28
to 31. She was one of the seven
delegates of the ten counties of
the Hamilton-London
Synodical to attend.
Michael Hoy, who is em-
ployed by the Town of Exeter,
spent last week with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Hoy, while his wife, Mary Beth
Hoy spent the week in Windsor
where she was engaged in
social work. While there she
visited with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. A,L. McCurdy who
reside in Windsor.

Fly-up.

and Cindy Cluff, and Golden
Bar badges to Rebecca Fawcett,
Dawn Merrier, Mary Lynn
Talbot, Lori Talbot, Ann Haw,
Cindy Talbot, Cathy Lapping-
ton and Cindy Cluff, by L.A..
President Mrs. Rosemarie
Taman.
Service Stars were given to
the girls by Tawny Owl
Ruthann Knights. The dnomes
and Pixies Sixers received
recognition for the best Sixes
, during the season. They are led
by Jo-Anne Sturgeon and
Wendy Penhale.
Pathfinder Badges were
presented by Brown Owl Carol
Penhale to Andrea Piecarz,
Anne Talbot and
Joanne Chapman, and
Booklovers Badges to Ruthie
DeRuyter, Cathy Leppington,
Joanne Chapman and Mary
Lynn Talbot.
Andrea Piecarz was enrolled
as a Brownie in the Pack, but
will be leaving Bayfield for the
summer and missed.
Fly-up for Cindy Cluff and
Jo-Anne Sturgeon took place in
the form of trees as the Pack
formed branches. Anne Talbot
dropped snowflakes on the girls
as they came out from under
the trees and they were given
their Brownie wings.
Following this Fluffy Owl
Donelda Sturgeon who is
retiring after three years with
the Pack, was presented with a
rosebush by Wendy Penhale. A
short address was read by
Rebecca Fawcett on behalf of
the Brownies.
Marilyn Haw, secretary of
the L.A. presented Donelda
with two Guide teaspoons.
Fluffy Owl Donelda expressed
her surprise anf thanks to all.
Rosemarie Taman then
spoke briefly and presented a
lovely Maple Leaf pin to each
of the leaders from the L.A,
Sixers Jo-Anne Sturgeon,
Anne Talbot, Wendy Penhale
and Joanne Chapman each
received a Brownie autograph
book and Cathy Leppington
and Anne Talbot, who had only
missed two meetings each,
received Brownie Compasses.
The Bayfield Brownie Pack
will be calling at each home in
the Village on Saturday, June
16 to distribute brochures for
the Imperial Bank of Com-
merce, Bayfield Branch.
SOCIAL ITEMS
Summer is again ap-
proaching, and it is time for the
annual Pioneer Park Rummage
sale. Mrs. Melisse Kurtz and
Mrs, Lola Cook are once again
convening the event and are
planning it for Friday evening
July 13. Readers are asked to
save their rummage for this
event as the Association is
hoping for another successful
sale this year.
With the help of about a
dozen young people, the flower
beds have all been dug up,
cleaned and replanted with
flowers, to help beautify Clan
Gregor Square. An appeal is
being sent out to help maintain
the flower beds during the sum-
mer, Interested citizens or
groups are welcome, and a
calendar has been posted in the
