Vacation time is fast ap-
proaching--some folks are
already enjoying theirs. If you
are contemplating a trip to
British Columbia this year,
here is a suggestion from the
Canadian Government Travel
Bureau. There is a regular run
of the British Columbia
Railway Train No, 1 that
travels 462 miles north through
B.C. from North Vancouver to
Prince George in the interior.
The No. 1 will stop anywhere
along the way to pick up coun-_,
try folk who flag it down. C.,
casual and exciting trip and
most spectacular from the
scenic aspect.
The train follows curve after
curve in the track past Hor-
seshoe Bay and on up to Alta
Lake, the summit of the coastal
mountain range. Then it
descends into the lush Pember-
ton Valley winding to Lillooet
in the heart of Cariboo country,
Passengers wishing to make it a
one day trip can return to
North Vancouver from Liliooet.
Anyone who can afford the
time won't regret carrying on to
Prince George. From Lillooet
the train passes through the
Fraser River Canyon and at
one point, the river can be seen
two thousand feet below the
tracks. Then the train begins its
climb to the highest point on
the railway. Horse ake at 3,864
feet above sea level,
The run from North Van-
couver to Prince George takes
place Mondays, Wednesdays
and Fridays returning
Tuesdays, Thursdays and
Saturdays so it is necessary to
stay overnight in Prince
George. Hotel accommodation
can be made through the
British Columbia Railway,
1095 West Fender Street, Van-
couver, B.C.
