Before being acted upon by our planners, the results of this survey, where applicable, will be made public." This was good for my ego. At last someone appreciated my superior ability and needed my assistance in solving an important problem. Alas Pride is short lived! I soon discovered that my neighbours had superior ability and their assistance was also needed. Our help was needed "in identifing those particular aspects and features that make up the land marks and landscape of (our) local countryside. We were instructed—"Suppose you were going to enter a photo contest for the most interesting or typical local land mark or land- scape scene'. These might be both natural features such as a creek setting or a view from a hill, or they might be man made such as a church, a school or a barn." I wonder if you would pick the same kind of areas that two people in my community told me they picked— wooded areas with streams and hills. In other words they picked recreation areas that have little value for Agricultural purposes. Now would you be surprised to find that this letter didn't come from our county or township land-use planning Board? It came from Ontario Hydro at a time when a Hydro line (or lines) is being planned for this area. If we, of the farm community, pick out all these scenic, recreation areas to be left as they are Hydro has a legitimate argument from farm people to put their lines where it is easiest and cheapest to put them—across our best and easiest-cultivated farm land. This is exactly where our Federation of Agriculture doesn't want them: Now that it has become apparent, even to citizens of Canada, that there can be a slight problem of food supply I think we should ask ourselves the question. "Do we prefer playing to eating?" Personally I prefer to eat first and play with what's left even thosigh my recreation may be inconvenienced to some extent by a Hydro line, • A matter of principle in Fl orida B200 Galt Ocean Drive, Fort Lauderdale 33308 Acres of private ocean beach • heated pool, sun docks « luxurious accommodation • golf priviledges on a championship coursot 40 free tennis on promiSes • superb dining nightly dancing and entertainment • visits to Walt Disney World available..
