By 13ev Wilton
Hello, that's as good a way to start as any. Having just
taken over the duties of Recreation Director for the town,
I've been saying hello to many new friends. I'd like to thank
all those who have already been around and have made me
feel so welcome.
The first bit of news I have for you is good news. We have
applied for and have been given a grant from the govern-
ment. The program is called "Youth in Action." Here in
Clinton we have called our project "Summer of '73." A
program supervisor has been hired along with four
playground leaders.
Our program supervisor will oversee the playground
program and plan special events that will hopefully involve
as many of the community as possible,
Our playground program should be a good one. It will be
open to children from 6 years to 15 years of age. The
program will begin Monday June 25th at 9 a.m. Activities
such as creative drama, competitive games, arts and crafts,
field trips, camp-outs, nature trails and music will fill the
summer for the children involved. If you would like to
register your child in this program, come to the arena on
Saturday, June 9th between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Registration
fee is $1.00 for the seven week program.
If you have any old sports or crafts equipment you do not
need, or would be willing to lend us for the summer, please
call Christine Hartley, Program Supervisor at 482-6693.
Believe it or not, I have more good news for you. Two
students from the University of Ottawa have been placed in
Clinton for the summer through the Sports and Recreation
Branch. They are each concentrating on recreation for
special groups in our community.
John Brotherhood will be working with the senior citizens
in Clinton and Cheryl Soderlund with handicapped,
If you would like to know more about their work or have
some pertinent information for them, please call 482-7731.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated,

indication.
With the odd exception, most
of .the players from last year's
championship team will be
back and a few juveniles will be
inserted into the lineup to give
the Colts extra depth.

The Clinton Juvenile Girl's

league, with a lot of hard work
and a few good breaks„' he
said.

pay off later in the season,
"The team has improved fan-
tastically since the first practice
session," Coach Armstrong
revealed. "Even in wet weather
