Adults $2.50 Children 12 under $1.50.—c19,21,23b The highlight of the Fly-up ceremony on May 8th at the Hensall United Church was the presentation of wings to 'Brownies by Mrs. Gary Nash, Clysdale Division Com- missioner. Lori Flynn, Vicki Mann, Becky Baker, Tammy Turner, Anna Marie Duffy, Sandra Dixon and Joanne Bell portrayed Centennial ladies as they flew out of Brownies. A skit "Magic for Golden Bars" was presented •by the Golden Bar Brownies representing some of the tests required to earn this badge. Many interest badges were presented by Tawny Owl, Mrs. Joyce Pepper. Each Brownie pieced together a part of a hand to form a large Golden Hand representing a test required for a badge. An Afgan was on display which was completed this year. This consisted of squares knitted by 90 Brownies over a period of 12 years. This will be sent to a missionary in the field. A resume' of the years activities was given by Brown Owl with a vote of thanks to Tawny Owl, Mrs. Pepper, the Local Association and the mothers. During pow-wow, Lori Flynn told about Guiding in Ireland. Each Brownie told what she liked best about Brownies. Af- ter, a sing-song lunch was ser- ved by Fly-ups to many mothers and guests present. This concludes activities until September, WOMENS INSTITUTE The May "grandmothers" meeting of the Hensall WomenS Institute was held in the Legion Hall on Wednesday evening. New president, Hilda Payne, warmly welcomed mem- bers and guests. The roll call was answered with "your Gran- dmother's occupation",. treasurer's report was given by Marg Ingram. Janis Bisback gave a report on the short course "Choosing and using Fabrics" held in the Legion Hall on May 1. Joyce Pepper also gave a report on the 4-H Achievement Day held in the Stephen Central School recen- tly. The District Annual meeting will be held on May 16 in Caven Presbyterian Church in Exeter. Six members plan to attend. It was decided to ask the 4-H girls, their mothers and leaders to attend a supper on June 13 in Kippen United Church for a strawberry supper. All W.I. members and 4-H are to meet at the Legion Hall that evening at 4:45 to go to the Church. Members will meet at the Legion Hall after the supper for a short meeting. Program conveners were Beryl Elgie 'and Myrtle Sherritt. Everyone joined in a sing-song with Greta Lammie at the piano. Musical numbers for the evening were performed by the Finlayson sisters. Shelley, Sandra and Sue-Ann sang two numbers and Sandra and Shelley did a tap dance routine. Mary Broadfoot ac- companied the girls on the piano. Mrs. Rundle of Exeter demonstrated the art of making things out of bread mixed with white glue to make a pliable dough, that can be made into many things like flowers, fruits leaves and made into pictures and floral arrangements. Ar- ticles she had made were passed around for everyone to see, . Edna Stoneman introduced the guest speaker Mr. Joe Wooden, Principal of South Huron District High School. He showed slides on the St. Joseph area and talked on some of the history of our area and also the history of St. Josephs, and one man Narcisse M. Cantins dream of making St. Joseph a booming town. Hazel Corbett gave courtesy remarks and Myrtle Sherritt presented gifts to the eentertainers. Prizes were presented to grandmothers with a birthday in May, Grace Peck; lives fur- thest away, Mrs. Spaulding, Anna Maria Florida; youngest grandchild, Winnie Skea; most buttons, Hilda Payne; biggest purse, Myrtle Orr. Hostesses were Winnie Skea and Susan Purdy ENGAGEMENT Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McLean, Hensall, Ontario, wish to announce the forth- coming marriage of their daughter, Gwendolyn Marie to Raymond J. Devereaux, 'son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Devereaux, RR 4, Seaforth. The wedding will take place Saturday, June 16, 1973 at 2 p.m. in Hensall United Church. Constance By Mary Mcliwain The Court Constantine L 1842 held their monthly meeting on Thursday evening May 10th. Activities planned were: A booth to be at Bob McMillan's sale on May 12th; the Annual Chicken Barbecue to be held on June 14th; the Foresters have booked the Community Centre in Seaforth on November 10th for their aut umn dance; A birthday party to be held on May 30th with Court Fascination. Olive Little and Delphine Dolmage are on a committee to plan a bus trip and Betty Hulley will be a delegate to go to Vancouver in July for the .High Court meeting. Scott Hoegy of R R 1, Dublin spent the weekend with his grandparents, Mr, and Mrs. William Dale and Cheryl, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Thomp- son of Mississauga spent the weekend with the John Thomp- son family. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Medd and Kim of Blyth and Miss Margaret Hummell of Clinton were Sunday visitors with Mr, and Mrs. JaCk Medd, Jim and Kerri. Renee Grace Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson was baptized at the Sunday Service in Knox Presbyterian Church in Goderich. Those attending were her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carter Kerslake and Craig of Staffa, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Thompson and Joanne of Goderich, and Mr. and Mrs. George Vivian, Andrew, Janice, Steven and Sandra of Staffa. They all spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson. Rick and Renee, and visiting at the same home were Mr. and Mrs. Art McMichael, Rhonda, Jeff and Scott of Goderich and Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson Sharon and Bob. Mr. and Mrs, John Jewitt, Carol, Judy, Danny Billy and Paul, Mrs. Ella Jewitt, Don, Larry, Ken, Kevin and Steven, Miss Pat Willert of Goderich, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Preszcator,, Billy, Debbie and Michael spent Mother's Day with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dowson, Brenda, Bonnie and John of Varna. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Snell, Shane and Shannon of Blyth spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. William Dale and Cheryl. Mr. and Mrs. Terence Hun- ter of Colborne Township were Sunday evening visitors with Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson, Jim , Sharon and Bob. We would like to wish Mr. Sam McClure a speedy recovery. He spent the weekend in Seaforth Hospital, having received a painful burn to his eye from the welder. A capacity crowd attended a reception shower held on Saturday evening May 12th for Mr. and Mrs. Doug Richardson (nee Gisela Dorrance) in the Kinburn Foresters Hall. with Marie Flynn's Orchestra providing the music for dan- cing. Mrs. Norm MacDonald of Gait, matron of honour, Miss Marie Richardson of Guelph sister of the groom, the brides maid, presented the gifts to Gisela.
