functions are already
scheduled,
It is hoped many will be able
to attend the presentation in
St. James Church on Wed-
nesday May 23 of the
Australian tour by Mr. and
Mrs. LeRoy Poth of Bayfield
We hear their pictures and
commentary are outstanding.
The A.C.W, will serve lunch
following the pictures.
The new church cupboards
are somewhat like Mother
Hubbard's, in need of cups and
saucers for one thing. Mrs.
Heitbohmer started the ball
rolling by donating a set of six.
Mrs. Smith and Mrs.
Youmatoff were appointed to a
buying committee.
Mrs. Jack Cole gave a ap-
propriate Mother's Day
reading. "Parable of a Young

The big chicken barbecue
was discussed as our major
project for this summer. Plans
are 'still tentative.
A highlight of the evening
was the Dutch Auction under
the direction of Mrs. Joseph
Storey. This new venture
proved both lucrative and ex-
citing! There were bargains
galore on such items as fresh
eggs, hand made doilies,dahlias
rose bushes etc!
Mrs. Smith served a boun-
teous lunch, assisted by Mrs. S.

Central Huron Secondary
School of Clinton faced some
tough opposition at the Huron-
Perth Track Meet held in Lon-
don last Monday and 'didn't
fare too well.
The meet, won by Stratford
Central, included all the secon-
dary schools in Huron and
Perth Counties. St. Marys, who
have won the total points tally
the last 19 years, were second
and Goderich was third. Strat-
ford Northwestern were forth.
CHSS managed only one first
in individual competition when
Randy Millar took the junior
discus title with a toss of
119'5'' .
Bill Cantelon was second in
the senior boy's long jump and
Don MacDonald was second in
the junior boy's long jump.
Once there was a very fat
boy — so fat he couldn't sit
down on a chair without
breaking it. The children of
the village teased hip and
called him Blimpo. BuOhe just
kept on eating. One'day a
messenger came: "King
Justin is havin.g a contest.
Anyone fatter than he is, can
marry the King's beautiful
daughter Caroline and
become the new King."
Everyone in the village
thought Blimpo could win. So
they sent him off with a mule
train full of food supplies. The
crowd at the castle buzzed
when they saw Blimpo. Surely
he would win. The King
thought so too. "You must be
tired," he said. "Why don't
you rest before we weigh
you?" The guards led Blimpo
to a fine bedroom — and
locked him in! For days King
Justin kept him locked there,
with only bread and water to
eat. Caroline felt sorry for

The Clinton Chapter of Beta
Sigma Phi enjoyed an ex-
cellent dinner meeting at the
Bedford Hotel in Goderich.
Dinner was followed by a
brief welcome to the pledges, a
run down of the year's ac-
tivities and the Founder's Day
Message. A lovely pottery
arrangement was presented to
president Jo Ann Sullen and
the Girl of the Year pin and gift
was presented to Betty
Lockhart of Clinton.
The candlelit Ritual of
Blimpo, Each night she saved
some of her (Akin dinner and
took it to him. Soon they fell in
love. At last, King Justin
unlocked the door. The crowd
gasped when they saw Blim-
po. He was thin and hand-
some. He had lost the contest!
But Caroline begged her
father to let Blimpo marry her
after all. And the King agreed.
When the news reached the
village, a cheer went up for
their hero, Blimpo.
