Anticipating a tough vision in the "B" division, the Clinton Colts baseball team are, for the

high single of 253 and the high
triple of 651. Bob Atkinson had
the high single of 266 and the
high triple of 730.
It's all over in the Bayfield
Bowling League and Coc-A-
Dodle-Do's emerged the victors
with a total pinfall of 6657.
Alley Rats were next with 6173,
while Bull Shooters had 6083
and Alley Dusters had 5329.
Frankie Talbot had both the
ladies high single of 344 and
the high triple of a commen-
table 721. Joe Koene had both
the men's high single of 281
and the high triple of 684. Last
week, Madelon Mclllwain had
both the ladies high single of
299 and the high triple of 699.
Joe Koene had the high single
of 326 and the high triple of
756.
Action is over in the Clinton-
Blyth Ladies League and the
Sea Monkeys have emerged vic-
torious with a 6031 total pin-
tail, The Road Runners were
second with 5908. The top two
were followed by the. Laughing
League bowling is fast
drawing to a close in Clinton
and for the Tuckersmith Mixed
League, the season is over and
the champs declared. Season's
champions were Seldy's
Sumacs, 'composed of Seidon
Ross, Dave Triebner, Wes Len-
ting, Isabel Rodgerson, Ann
Walters and Ann Eskerod. Play
off champs were Ed's Elms,
composed of Ed Layton, Ruby
Triebner, May Pepper, .Jo-Ann
Hayman, Chris Eskerod and
Bill Rodgerson,
Titles in the men's division
included: high single, Bill
Rodgerson, 343; high triple,
Angus Hummel, 824; and high
average, John Hayman, 205. In
the ladies end: high single, Ann
Walters, 349; high triple, Jo-
Ann Hayman, 680; and high

increased it to 3-0 when Paul
Priestap scored. Grand Bend
reduced it to a single goal lead
at the end of two periods.
The "Bend" tied it early in
the third but Paul Priestap hit
again to provide a 4.3 lead and
Neil Colquhoun hit an empty
net with one second left to
clinch it.
Hyenas with 5463, the North'
Stars with 5252, the Pacers
with 5251 and the Hot Shots
with 5022. Meryl Thomas had
the high single of 311 and the
high triple of 713.
Steve's Strikers took the
league championship in the
Clinton Crown YBC Junior
League by a slim on point
margin over the Strikeouts,
who finished with 100. Kelly's
Heroes were hot on the trail
with 96, and Alley Dusters
weren't far back with their 94.
The top four were followed by
the Tornadoes with 79, the
Widcats with 78, the Wipeouts
with 77 and the Crown Royals
with 75, Bonnie Van Riesen
had the girl's high single of 166
and Cathy Anstett had the high
double of 317. Steve Gibbings
Rob Heard, Neil Colquhoun
and Paul Priestap were the
only ones to beat Patton and
Edigoffer who shared the Mit-
chell goal tending.
Since the ice is out of the
Clinton Arena, the Bantams
will play their home game in
Seaforth Wednesday, a last
ditch effort to salvage a trophy
for Clinton.
Monday the W.O,A,A, Ban-
tam "C" Champs, Mitchell,
swamped Clinton 9-3, but the
score is not really a fair in-
dication of the play, Mitchell's
3-2 lead after two could have
been 6 or 7-3 for Clinton had
they not been frequently
frustrated by the Mitchell
goalie. This frustration had its
effect early in the third as Mit-
chell got five unanswered goals
in the first eight minutes and
put it out of range for Clinton
who again couldn't seem to
"buy a goal," despite many
good chances, The final was 9-
3.

Mrs, Tom Allen and Mrs,
Glen Carter held a shower on
Saturday afternoon in the
church hall for Mary Lynne
Saundercock. About 60 people
were present for the event,
Contests were conducted by
Mrs, Don Scruton and Mrs,
Keith Allen. The contest on
advertisements was won by
Heather Fothergill and Mrs.
Frank Johnston. A card bingo
was played also.

Many lovely gifts were presen,

and Lori and Beth Sam-
dercock. Mary Lynne thanked
all and then a lovely lunch was
served.
CARD PARTY HOLD
A card party was held in the
Hellett Central School on Wed-
nesdae night with IS tables in
play. The ladies' high winner
was Mrs, Bert Brunsdon while
the low was Mrs, Gordon
Powell. The men's high honour
went to Keith Tendall, The low
of the night was Bobby Powell
and Ken Preszcator.

The Cheerio Club meeting
was held on Wednesday April
4, at the home of .Jewel Cowan.
President Ena Bowatt opened
the meeting with the reading
"Reflections on Spring". She
also gave the Scripture and
prayer, Psalm 21 was read by
Jewel Cowan,
The minutes of the last
meeting and the treasurer's
report were read by secretary
Ida Durnin. The club donated
$5.00 to the Cancer Society. Get
well cards were signed to be
sent to Lily Webster and Olive
Gaunt.
Roll call was answered with
a current event by 11 members
and one visitor. The program
included readings; Life, Ladies
Aid, and Petty Theft by Myrtle
Fairservice; the Strike and a
Newly Married Couple Buy a
Home by Ida Durnin. Some
charades were also acted.
The meeting closed with the
poem "His Gifts" and the
Lord's Prayer in unison. Some
games of cards were played and
lunch was served by Jewel
Cowan, Mary Robinson, Jessie
Jones and Tric Duizer,
4H CLUB
(intended for last week)
On Monday March 4, the
Londesboro Club held their
second meeting. After they
opened with the pledge and
minutes of the , previous
meeting, the roll call was an-
swered with the name of a knit
garment in their own wardrobe.
The leaders then discussed
methods to use in cutting your
own pattern. The next meeting
was planned for Monday 19 at
7.30 at the same place. The
meeting adjourned with the
motto.
The third meeting of the
Londesboro 1 Knick Knacks
was opened with the pledge
and minutes, Mrs. Harry
Watkins, the leader sewed a
sample demonstrating the
correct stitching. Other samples
which Mrs. Watkins brought
were then discussed. The next
meeting was to be held March
26.

Son, Cub-Scout banquet held at
the church hall Tuesday April
3. The United Church Women's
group were in charge of the
catering.
A toast to the Queen was
given by Scott Kevin Hulley.
Grace was given by Cub Paul
Middigaal, Mr. .Jack Lee,
Chairman of the Group Com-
mittee welcomed everyone.
Cub Bruce Hunking thanked
the ladies and Mrs. Lorne
Flunking replied.• Cubmaster
Stan McDonald presented
badges to the cubs. Danell
Shobbrook and Wayne Lyon
with accordions and Danny
Lear with guitar entertained.
Scout Danny Lear introduced
the guest speaker, Bob Elliott
of Goderich Township.
Bob is a farmer, former
school teacher, chairman of
Huron County Board of
Education, Sunday school
teacher and a leader of boys
groups. He currently operates
the Pine Lake campgrounds.
Bob gave a very interesting
talk while showing an excellent
colour movie of camping ac-
tivities at Pine Lake. Cub
Robert Hunking thanked Mr.
Elliott for coming.
The banquet then came to a
close with the salute by the
packs and troops, followed by
the Lord's Prayer,
